Amp+Sub Install Help

i've looked at the numerous threads on this site for help, but i would still like some clarification.

for the power line, i saw in death to toasters thread one way to wire through the firewall, but someone also mentioned that there is another grommet near the brake (interior view), does anyone have a picture to where that grommet is located or any more insight to where it is?

now i'll cut the wires to the stock sub and add the speaker to RCA cable (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...l.php?cat_id=5) in, however it says that its RCA to 4 speaker wires (only shows 2). I thought there were only 2 wires to the sub, what do I do with the other 2?

lastly, since the HU in our cars have a subwoofer control, what is the proper way to set the gain on the amplifier.

parts ordered: jl audio slash v2 250/1 and a 12w3v3.

i'm sure it will all make sense to me when i get the parts, but i'm just doing the research early so when the parts arrive i can install immediately!!

sorry for all of the noob questions

The firewall is the best place to run it through. If you move the black cover right above the brake pedal, you see this black rubber circle thing with some wires running through it. That is what you wanna run the power cord through. To use the HU controls, run the remote to the HU.

^thanks, i'll take a look once i get out of work today.

I don't need to use a remote on wire because the 250/1 can sense the power from the stock subwoofer wires.

anybody have some ideas on

couldnt get it into that harness grommet and i was sick of looking so i just drilled a hole through the firewall. it got dark, so i couldnt finish routing the wire, but i'll finish that and fill in the hole with some caulking.

now i just need to wait on the rest of the parts and some answers to the ?? above before i continue.

there is 4 wires total. one for the positive and one for the negative. the positive has a + and a - wire and the negative has a + and - wire also. you twist the +'s together and twist the -'s together. then you wire that to your + sub woofer + output from your kick panel on the passenger side and same for the negative. i hope this makes sense.if you don't understand then i suggest you take your car to a professional and let them handle it.

I would tune the amp with the HU sub control on like -3 so you can have some play when u need to show off but still turn it down if you got old people or kids riding with you.
