Aftermnarket System

I want to buy two 12" subwoofer box for my TL. Can someone recommend me a good one that will deliver good bass. Can the tech's disable my factory sub and connect the wiring to my aftermarket sub which will allow me to turn the bass up and down from Navi controls?

What subs should I get that will last. I want loud bass but not extremely loud bass. Recommend a good amp that will power all of this. I want to buy my system from Bestbuy or Circuit City.

Thanks for all of your help.

i wouldn't use the factory amp for any other sub except for your stock. it'll be a waste of $$$. i'd get another amp just to power the 2 subs you want. if you want a lot of bass, JL Audio subs will give you that.

i replaced everything except my head unit and left the stock amp to power the center speaker. all my speakers are alpine type r, an amp to power all the speakers except the center and the aftermarket sub. another amp to power my 12" type r. i'm content with the type r. JL was too bassy for me. make sure you dynamat the trunk or it will vibrate like a mofo

just do a search, there's alot of members that have upgraded their audio

I highly recommend Alpine 2005 TYPE R DVC Subs and at least a 500watt rms aftmkt amp to push them. They hit really loud and low.

Thumbs up

I had the new Alpine 12" Type R good sq and thats it, trust me you can't go wrong with JL

All you would need is one 12" W6V2 powered by a JL 500/1 and your good to go, stop by your local Good Guys or Tweeter and check it out

To answer your other question, you can disable your factory sub and maintain controls through the stock equipment.

Although I am running a single DVC 10" with a separate amplifier, the install should be the same. I can control the sub volume from my navi screen.

try a jl 12w3 powered by a jl 250/1, or 2 12w3's w/ a 500/1. run the hi/lo converter just before the factory sub (do not leave fatory sub on, it makes strange cancellation effects at different frequencies, plus it's not really that good). make sure whoever does the box does it right, the trunk is built to be quiet and cancel roadnoise, so if it's not done right you won't like the outcome. i built the box and a panel that separates it from the rest of the trunk so that the sound is forced forward and when you open the trunk you can't see anything at all.

I went to Bestbuy today and checked at a single 12" Rockford Fostgate Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer with Polypropylene Cone , they are asking $259.99 for it. The box goes for $119.99. Is this sub very reliable and put out good bass. I want it to knock where people outside can hear it too, hehe.
