Adding Subwoofer to a 06 TL Navi

So, I know that I need an amp and a woofer, and 0 gauge wires. Now, what is the installation like? I've never installed anything like that before, but would like to DIY. Do I need anything other than the above mentioned to maintain factory Navi control? Thanks.

simple and easy way:
Parts:
1. Amplifier with High level Inputs (all JL audio amps are high input)
2. Subwoofer
3. Subwoofer box

Get the signal from the factory sub and directly connect it to the amplifer. Connect the sub to the amplifier.

Run the power wire along the kick panels on the driver side, there's a grommet in the engine bay that you can run the wire to.

Put the ground on the body in the trunk, make sure its metal to metal contact, sand off any paint.

check out DeathtoToaster's DIY, very good and simple to follow:

Why high level inputs? How is it beneficial?

Also, How would I get the signal from the factory sub? By doing so, will it made the factory sub obsolete?

if you are not going to get a clean sweep, then you need to get some device to kill the factory signal from the head unit if you want it to work with the factory head unit. and you dont need 0 gauge unless your going to run over 1000 watts.

you also need a LOC in order for you to be able to hook it up from the subwoofer and control the sub using the stock subwoofer controls on the NAV.

It's not beneficial, it's necessary. The TL has a built-in amplifier from factory, so the input to the sub is high level. You can't connect high inputs to an amp unless it's capable of receiving high level signals.

You can piggy back the connection from the factory sub to the amp input if you want to keep your factory sub.

You don't have to have that device (LOC) installed if the aftermarket amp can use high level inputs. But having one will help to flatten out the signal and clean it up for the aftermarket amp to amplify. As for the 1/0 gauge, why not get it? It won't hurt. It will only help.

What's "Clean sweep"? Same as LOC?

Clean Sweep and RF3Sixty.2 are audio processors. They are great if you are going to keep your factory head unit. They do a really nice job of cleaning up the signal and preparing it for amplification. I have the 3Sixty.2 installed in my sound system.

I had one in my car, just took it out and had the same set up you want. I'm looking to sell everything if you are interested, only used for 6 months or so. details in my sig, theres also a pre-amp driver that ups the signal voltage for clearer bass (was installed on the car when i got it). . It was sliced into the harness in the pass. footwell. And yes, your stock sub will not work any longer this way unless you wired it so that it did. However, why would you want to do this? It would just make for sloppier/unbalanced bass.

JL audio has a cable (rca into speaker wire) where you can tap into stock subwoofer wiring into your amp directed and if you have a JL amp it has a high or low input switich and you dont need a remote wire because amp turns on when it has a signal. very easy correct if i am wrong
thanks

I heard that 3Sixty is better than CleanSweep, true?

How does a capacitor come into play?

a 3.sixty is useless if all you want to upgrade is the sub. Its good if you are doing the whole sound system, and it needs to be programed via a PDA phone like a palm.

I got a Macbook, its got bluetooth on it, will it work?

Also, what's a capacitor's role in the whole setup?

basically when you have a sub that hits hard and take a lot of power, 1000+ watts, you need a capacitor to help get rid of the spikes the battery takes so your car lights don't dim.
