Acura schematic question
Does anyone know how to read or access or find the meaning of all the numbers in bold black?
Is that a wire harness name or a connector location?? How do I find a list of those numbers for reference or purchase?
ie: what is B-7 32117 or B-16 and all the rest.

I think those typically refer to other sections of their parts manual, thats about the best I can come up with lol .. if looking for a part on a site like delray acura and I see that and I need a part that is in a different diagram I just check a lot of the other sections on their site until I can find it.
It's there somewhere though.
Are you trying to get connectors or something?

I will have to keep looking I guess. I have a typeS steering wheel and I want to do a steering wheel swap. Someone once said that a "clock spring" (actually called a "cable reel" or "reel assy") is required.. But I new that was a crock because a cable reel has 2 sides. If you plug in the new 20 pin connector from the steering wheel, then it HAS to come out the other side. That is what a cable reel is for. It passes wire connections through it without getting tangled or broken. So, my thought was that changing the cable reel would only propagate the issue through to the back side of the clock spring (that being , wrong connector and wrong number of wires). So you wouldn't be solving anything by getting a clock spring because the harness on the backside is the wrong size too!. And so I compared my 04/05 helms book to my new 07/08 helms book, and sure enough, the cable reel on the 07/08 has 20pin on BOTH sides. And the 04/05 has like 13 pin on Both sides. So, changing the cable reel won't do you SQUAT unless you want to change the harness back further under the dash too. So, really, the easiest solution would be Splice right at the steering wheel and forget the cable reel, otherwise you would have to replace everything from A to Z. The difference in the pin-outs only allow for paddle shifters, and the info system controls were moved to the steering wheel from the dash panel(as you already know).
So, just for grins, in case I decided to go ahead and move the info system buttons to the steering wheel, I was looking to see how the harness or harnesses were connected on the back side of the cable reel. It looks like I saw 1 that is only like $50 but I can't tell where it goes. But No worries, if I can cut wire and move them from the dash panel over to the new little pigtail that acura is selling, then maybe I can make something work. BUT I would like to know if that #7 is the right mini-harness that plugs into the cable reel. And I don't see any cables positions on the backside of the Reel.
Separately, It would help if the pins in the connectors were the same size so I could transplant the pins (and wires) from 1 connector to the other.. like from the 13pin to the 20 pin. That process works fine on the navigation screen, but I have not taken apart my 05 steering wheel to see the size of the pins that are inserted into the 13p connector which goes into the cable reel. I have the 20p connector on my typeS steering wheel already, that is all I can see at the moment.
The airbag is plug and play and I think the horn is too.. The only modification required is the 13p to 20p connection.
If you look at that picture, I cannot tell what #7 plugs into. It's a big wire harness, and only $50. But also, I cannot even find a number for the Reel Assembly, unless it is one of those bold numbers.

It may be easier to do a splice job, but instead of guessing, I wanted to find out what is required to actually change out the steering wheel and move the Info system buttons to the steering wheel. Like what exactly would I have to do, so I can make a determination of how expensive it would be, verses just doing a splice at the steering wheel and forgoing the rest.

Those are all SRS components I wouldn't mess with that system.

Here's all the harnesses, problem is if you change one its going to change a lot more than just those steering wheel connectors.

I think the only real way to get this done is by carefully looking at the differences between the pin-outs on the cars and doing a splice job.
Are those 7 extra wires needed? Or can you get the functionality you need on the older car using the 13? I suppose if you want the extra bits they added to the steering wheel area in 07-08 then it is, but something would have to be done on more than one end of that harness and probably in more than one place elsewhere in the car (back of headunit for audio stuff, at the PCM for paddle shifters, etc) if you want everything to work, I'm just throwing out a few guesses here though.
Is it worth all that work and potential trouble?

Yah I know, the other cable you were looking at looks like it's for the side curtain airbags, so part of the SRS.
Really not that straightforward finding the right connectors, it took me a good while to find the PCM edge connectors to make my own harness and I still haven't received them. I ordered a pair online and the ship date keeps getting pushed back due to manufacturing delays.
It's probably buried in here somewhere:

As an example the PCM connectors are here:

good luck with the project though.
