4 Guage Amp Kit

Which 4 guage amp kit should I buy for my system? I purchased a Kenwood 1000w 2 CHANNEL CAR AMP AUDIO AMPLIFIER. A tech told me that 4 guage is what I needed. Looking on ebay they have so many different ones but don't know what to choose. Thanks for your help.

most 4 guage kits say it handles amp up to 800 w. if my amp can handle 1000 w that means the cables wont be efficient?

Running 1000watt with 4gauge should be enough. But doesn't hurt to go 0 guage if you don't mind spending more.

0 guage wire is thicker compare to 4 guage wire. If you buy the amp wiring kit it should be enough to go from the battery all the way to the trunk with some extra. Just make sure your power and ground wires are the same such as using 4guage power cable and 4gauge ground cable. Make sure your ground cable is short as possible to prevent any distortion and signal interferance. Grounding is very important and to ground it to the car frame is the best root to go.

I'm going to have Bestbuy install it for me. They don't have 0 guage though. Only 4 guage amp kit. My amp can push out 1000 w peak . The amp kit is 800 w peak.Is this wiring good enough, will it give any distortion?

4 gauge is more than enough for that kenwood. in reality, it will only be pushing about 500-600 watts rms (constant). some 4 ga. kits say they can handle 500 watts some say 600 some 700. it's all marketing. i've had a 4 gauge kit running 2 amps that together pull about 900 watts rms and the power cable never even got hot. you'll be fine w/ 4 gauge, absolutely no need for 0 gauge.

Until you want bigger amps.. Run it, you'll have no regrets..

Question for ya'

Would you rather get drunk sipping on a tiny cocktail straw or one of those monster straws from Mc Donalds......

Or water your front yard with a garden hose or a 4 inch fire hose...

Exactly

You can pick up a 4 gauge amp power kit at your local walmart for about $25. Includes a lot of extras (such as distro block with 8 guage wires, rca cables, ties, wire cover, remote wire, etc). Worked well in my last car to power a couple of amps and a carputer.
