3rd Gen TL - Remote Start
Does anyone know if Acura makes a remote start for an 2005 TL? (my hunch is no, but I figured I would ask the experts out there)
If not, anyone have any suggestions for a good aftermarket remote start unit?
In my 2005 TL (with Navi), I had the dealer install a car alarm and remote start when I bought it new. Over time, it just stopped working well (neither of the remotes worked, got new remotes, same thing). I had my alarm replaced completely a few years ago, even brand new, the alarm didn't always work properly (car would not unlock from the remote if the engine was running from autostart, other weird scenarios). I just assumed that the alarm computer conflicts with the Acura's computer, so certain things don't work well. I don't even put the alarm in the "armed" mode, just leave it off and use the remote start (then use my key to unlock the doors). Lately, my alarm has been flipping out...the siren goes off whenever using any of the remote buttons, so I can't even use the remote start.
I'm at a point where I want to rip out the old alarm, and just have a working remote start, with the ability to lock/unlock the doors and trunk release from the remote.
Any suggestions?

I've always been a Viper guy myself. Used to sell these things like hot cakes back in my car install days. I think they have some of the best remote start/ security systems on the market and I've always been partial to them..
Directed (The parent company of Viper, Clifford, Python.. etc.) is the largest manufacture of security and remote start systems in the country so I tend lean towards the company with more influence in the industry.

I have been a 12v installer for over 15 years, I first started with the directed brand and then moved to the compustar brand about 5 years ago and for ease of installation and less intrusive to your cars wiring compustar is the way to go. I installed one of them in my wife's pilot and if I did not have to have my KBP in a 6mt I would install compustar in mine.

I guess its quality of installation. I have Viper 5806V alarm w/ remote start and had a major problem with it. A wire became dislodged from the "memory" or brain of the alarm and my car would not start. I complained to the store that installed it and they fucked me over. Had to get a flat bed and take it somewhere else. I spent over 600 dollars for everything. If I can redo everything, i'd just go with a factory alarm.

Directed Electronics is a conglomerate of consumer technologies, which nullifies your analogy. Good try though.

The dealership I bought my 2005 TL has told me not to install a remote start. I see people have done so anyways, and there are items on the market that are directly compatible. Any validity to their recommendation? I live in Minnesota and would like to warm up the car before bring my newborn out.
