So my isimple lasted about 4-years before kicking the bucket and I've been without a reliable AUX for the last few months. I finally splurged on the GROM USB3 Kit and got it installed in the TL:

The GROM Unit (HON1U3) works in CD-C mode with fast-forward and rewind working, and charging too via the USB. However if I flash to the XM emulator version (for song text, etc.), the whole system freezes up and does not work.

They have an optional Bluetooth Dongle (another $65) that I might use to hook up an external carplay system to such as this ( )

Figured I'd post a thread with an update in the event someone is looking for an AUX that charges via USB.

It also supports thumb drives, android, and other USB devices.

 

Is the built in USB fast enough to charge the newer phones though? Iphone 15’s and up with the USB C cable mainly.

 

I have a 14 Pro and it's been working. I'll let you know when I upgrade to a newer phone LMAO! I'll ask a few friends with an iphone 15 pro and 16 pro and I'll post an update.
