3G TL, (2005) Acura TL /Navi Issues

Hello,

3Gen TL (2005) Acura TL /Navi Issues

When the car is started Navi system goes through several onscreen processes such as:

1.) Please wait, Now downloading software
2.) Please do not shut off engine
3.) Enter Code, I enter the code
4.) **Wait** System is updating screen comes up
5.) After a couple minutes of waiting navigation is working

Screenshots

2.)
3.)
4.)

I checked the Navi Dvd it is currently running on v. 3.40, and looks to be in good condition. Bluetooth works for the cell phone, when I try to do use the push talk command option the mid speaker comes up w/ static.

Spoke w/ the dealership they stated that they would have to run a diagnostic test which would run about $120.00. I declined it and asked if the customer service rep could ask if one of the technicians saw this problem before, she stated that he came back stating it is most likely a memory issue w/ the navi system and would either need to be replaced ($3,400.00) or sent out for repair at which acura does not do.

If anyone can, please provide some feedback..

Thank you.

act, remove the navigation DVD drive and make sure that the connectors in the back are seated firmly, and that all wires are also in the harness properly. If the issue still happens after checking the connections, contact ALPINE, they manufacture the DVD drive and can fix it for 162 dollars.

Thanks for reply, are there any instructions posted to remove to remove the drive? I took out all the screws for the trunk liner but it would not move..

Thanks

2004 TL Navi Issues

I also had the same Navi issue. All of the sudden it developed Alzheimer's and you have to re-enter the NAVI code every time you start the engine, sometimes it does not come on at all. Same story with the dealer, $3,900 to replace the DVD player in the trunck. The dealer parts man indicated that it was made by Alpine and luckily for me there is a car stero sho up the highway who reps Alpine and they also install the back-up sensors for the dealer when I bought the car. The stero shop would charege $32 to remove the unit and again to re-install it, and the shipping charge is $40 to send it to a repair shop in Syracuse that works on this. Their cost to repair it would be $250 and up depending upon the issue.

With the cost of computers being under $500 one woiuld think that there should be a stock of rebuilts sitting on the shelf for a couple hundred dollars. This is a new version of Grand Larceny, considering I only paid $2,000 for the NAVI option when I ordered the car.

I'm presnetly seraching out that repair shop in Syracuse.

I recently had a nav control unit failure. Alpine will fix the control unit for $150 flat (incl return shipping). See my thread:

Ok, so according to vinuneuro's thread, I just have to take out that DVD unit in my trunk, 04 TL, and ship it off to Alpine with $160 or have them call me to charge the $160 on a credit card over the phone? Then they will fix it and send it back?

I'm wondering what they are fixing? What is exactly going bad?

Has anyone had a problem with the display near the clock going out once the navigation dvd player is removed? Also does it affect the cd changer?

They'll test the unit and replace any parts that they feel need replacing. I have learned however that they're replacing the power supply on every unit that comes in. Don't know what the reason for that is, but they must know something we don't.

They did mine summer of last year.

The sub-display is driven by the navi unit. No unit, no display.
