Anyone know of some 2ohm components that will fit in the doors of the 05TL?

 

Just did the polk audio mm 6501's.
You have to cut the door skin(metal a tad as these are 6 3/4".) But very simple and fit great behind door panel still

Think they are like 2.7 ohm's

Im running the stock system on a 5 ch JL amp, I wounder if the 2.7ohm will be safe

 

is the amp stable at 2 ohm? I'd assume thats why your asking for a 2ohm component?

 

Yes the 5ch JL amp is calling for 2ohm components. I blew out the stock ELS speakers in the doors so I was looking to replace them.

 

I pulled the trigger and bought the mm 6501's. How did you modify the door? just trace the outline of the 6501's and trim the metal? Did you have to modify the door panel?

 

Infinity makes some 2ohm speakers that fit without any modifications as far as I know

 

I am using the alpine 5 ch amp..PDX v-9, works great!

I had a hole saw that was the same diameter cutout, i traced. I'm sure you can use the mount ring as well as that should have the same cut out dimension.

Score a line, then cut out with a jigsaw. File done rough edges. Really easy.

Door panel fit back perfect w/o issues. I removed the plastic mount the oem speaker was in. I also sound deadened the door panel as well as the door skin. Just check the way you locate the screws for the speakers so you don't hit any hthing on the back side like wire harness or window brackets.
