2009 Navigation Update DVDs released!
I did see the changes for this year. Unfortunately it doesn't indicate changes since the original 2005 disc. I was just trying to see if it would be worth my while to purchase it.
I called the Alpine folks and they were of no help to me.

There really is no way to know all of the map and POI updates since you bought your car from asking them or from their website. If you are really curious, I would suggest going and test driving an '09 TL since it probably has the latest disk. Yes, the interface and some things are not the same as an '05 but I would assume the map database and POIs would be the same across different versions of the navi software.
Unfortunately, they never are when it comes to the DVD maps and such.
The '09 navi is hard drive based.

You're right. Forgot about that.
I got my new DVD in the mail a few days ago and opened it up and turned over the CD and found a huge scratch in it. Called Alpine and they are sending me out another one. Ah..one more week to find out what has changed in two years.

Thats to bad ya gotta wait another week! Keep us posted how the POI's are updated around you. Hopefully there were some big changes! I have been waiting for input from someone before buy this!
I live in Austin and once I get my replacement disc I will let all those in Austin know whether the toll roads have been added. Those are my biggies and also the fact that even on the 3.60 disc, 183 was still not showing as a completed freeway north of Mc Neil. I think that was finished in 2004.
I got the replacement disk yesterday opened it up and an even bigger scratch than the first one! There must have been some defect at the factory for a lot of these things. I called back and the CSR said she would personally check the next disk before she sent it out to me. I also asked for expedited shipping and she agreed. Alpine really has been very nice about this whole thing.
IDK if this is against the rules but here is the 08 disk if you guys know how to burn DVDs.. BTW you have to use a dual layer disk..

The updates should be for each version disc. In other words, all you do is order the updated disc for your version or color disc.
No matter what, they're asking too much money for these update DVD's. At just over $200 with tax & shipping, they can shove it up their ass!
If they were smart, they'd price it at under $100 and sell lots more discs. I still have my Ver. 3.30G disk the came with the car and would gladly pay someone who got the latest one and could successfully copy it.

I just noticed that you are running a different version of the disc than I would be (due ot the model year of the TL). I would assume the map info is the same... Or am I assuming too much?
Categorization still sucks
I got the DVD yesterday. I live in the Dallas Forth Worth area. Some of the road construction changes have been updated. However, the categorization of the points of interest are still as annoying as last year's version. The local Tom Thumb, just 5 minutes down the road, that was built 5 years ago, is still not in the database.
I just wanted to provide you with my two cents.
thanks.

Got my 2009 dvd and upgraded from my original 2006 dvd.I live in Raleigh, NC and I must say it makes a big difference. Roads that weren't there are now there with breadcrumbs over them. Since they are building so many new developments they don't always show up. It looks like any new developments started in 2008 are in there now. My local post office now shows up. Have to check and see if 540 extension shows up now.
i downloaded and installed it in my 07 TL. it said incorrect DVD please contact your dealer...so when i went to put in my original DVD, it still says the same error so i can't get the original DVD to reload. any ideas?
Your old disc will give a load error since it has older software than 4.73. At the error screen press and hold "MAP/GUIDE" + "MENU" + "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds. This will bring up the diagnostic menu. Select the "Version" button on the screen. Select the "Download" option on this screen. You will now force the old disc to reinstall.

I agree 100%.
There is no reason other than outright greed for these disk to sell for what they do. I could purchase and number of good portable navigation devices for a lower price. I love the system, it had a lot to do with me buying the car. But I really hate getting backed into a corner and shamelessly screwed. I can easily afford the disk but just can't make myself pull the trigger.
Anyone else feel the same way? At some point I will contact Acura.
yeah what general zod said, if you attempt this and it fails you can always roll back to any version disc you have with the provided instructions.
it is probably a matter of time before somebody figures it out so its better to be patient at this point. i think people with the original disc trying to copy might simply not be using a proper software that will strip everything
