2007 Type-S Subwoofer

The car is a 2007 TL-S

Alright i tried using the search but it was getting me nowhere.

What I want to do is install two 12'' subs in my trunk. The guy at JL Audio stated that it could not be done because of way the system is set up. He said that the thing that turns up the volume when you go faster would conflict with the sub and make it go crazy and the sub would just stay as loud as it could and not stop. He said that him and his friend spent hours trying to figure it out and could not and that they tried it before and after the amp and tried to use jailbreak? or something like that to bypass the problem and could not.

I went to another place and got a second opinion and they said that they have heard the same thing but i would need a AudioControl DQL-8 digital processor to bypass this problem. I understand what he was saying however I am not going to drop $600 on that then get an amp, woofers, and all that other jazz along with it.

Does anyone else who has done this to a S have any suggestions on how to go about this problem. I just find it hard to believe that this is the only way.

PS i am not trying to blast my trunk open with sound i just want something that sounds good so i dont need like a rock concert amp and all that just something modest.

Thank you

JL audio guy... he is an idiot... if he thinks that it will damage subwoofer, you can disable that feature on your navigation screen.

Welcome to the board.

first off, they're just trying push products that you dont need. What is your real question, here?
are you trying to build a system? Are you going to install it yourself? Do you have any idea on what type of sub you want? Are you going to buy or build a box?

Not true. I put a Basslink in the same car with no problems.

Only thing you do have to do is disconnect the rear noise cancellation microphone so the system doesn't try to noise cancel with your super subs. This may be what he is really referring to anyway.

Actually, they are correct, however, you don't need to buy their extra product. (I believe)

The bass will reduce itself unable to play its fullest potential.

I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere around here and that the problem occurs with 2006+ TLs.

I believe that someone has a DIY or solved this issue.

I installed 2 JL 10's in my Type-S and blew them because of this sound cancellation thing. Below is the link to a quick DIY I wrote up to install an aftermarket sub. Also this has the info on how to disable the noise cancellation system.

Yea they was trying to get over on you. Noise cancellation mic is the culprit for the crazy bass. Had same problem, and thanks to acurazine for the fix.

How do you like the Basslink? Does it give you a good amount of additional bass over the stock system?
