Hey everyone I picked up an 07 type s the other week and the bass from the sub is pathetic compared to my old 2000 TL. (plus the rattle sucks but I can fix that)

I've read and have been researching this topic long before I bought the car. I know the JL 8w3v2 is a perfect drop in fit but I'm trying not to spend the money right away.

My question is will the sub from my 2000 TL be a perfect replacement and will it still give the same performance.

 

If the sub is 2ohm and 8"..I'd assume so. Pretty much a lose lose situation going from 8" pos sub in IB to another one. It might give better performance, but any small IB sub on 50rms-ish..on a flimsy rear metal deck won't sound too good

 

Pretty much all I want is to have the same quality (bass vibration) from what I had in my 2g.

I will never add a box in the truck so my options are very limited.

Pluss I'm a noob at all this audio stuff. Would this (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kicker+-...&skuId=2304186 )make much of a difference and would it be a perfect fit?

 

The most likely scenario is your earlier TL had a more powerful amp or the sub is crossed over differently. Putting one junk sub in there for another is not worth the time. It might help but it probably won't.

 

I came from a 2G TL to a 08 Type S and initially I hated the sub in my 08. I'm not a big audiophile but I wasn't happy with the way it sounded and I ended up realising it was mostly due to the rattle.

Fixing the rattle using this method made it good enough for me not to want to spend money on a custom sub enclosure and a new amp.

Quick update.. I did fix the rattle and over the last couple days I've noticed a better sound quality but im still looking for more bass.

I havent been able to find a JL8w3v2 online or in the BM. Does anyone know if the newer 8w3v3 would fit just as good as the old one?
