2004 TL MP3 playback
2004 TL MP3 playback
Just bought a 2004 TL w/NAV. I've read that it doesn't support MP3 playback, so I haven't tried. I have made a DVDA successfully and works fine, even though it seems like it takes forever. I've done some searching and came up with nothing. I've learned that even though sometimes it says it won't work, people have found ways to make it work. Do you all have any ideas or tips about mp3 playback in my TL? Am I stuck just making a bunch of DVDA?
if your source is a disc, there is no possible way to play MP3's thru the stock system, nav or non-nav...
you would have to either 1) hook up an ipod using an adapter or 2) replace the stock radio with an aftermarket one...
what's wrong with DVD-A discs...? ...if your TL did playback MP3's you'd be stuck making a bunch of MP3 discs....DVD-A discs hold about the same amount of songs as an MP3 disc...yes the process might take longer, but i kinda like the DVD-A discs over MP3 ones...
and welcome to AZ...

MP3 route...just a waste of time.. I personally feel the DVDA option is better anyways.. Just add a few albums per Group, you can cycle through the groups easily... (cept going backwards, kinda annoying) and your good to go.
Use DVD-R DL 8.5GB for your DVDA, I've done 15+ albums on a single DVDA disc
Who needs MP3 when you have that...

Personally . . . I like options. I LOVE my DVD-A discs -- both commercial and home burned. Rimz is correct: a DVD-A holds almost as many uncompressed songs as a CD holds lossy MP3s. The added benefit is better sound quality. I also use my Ipod via cassette adapter (cheapest and easiest way to go -- only better option is direct connect). My next step is to add the Dice HD Radio tuner with Ipod input. XM sound quality is in the toilet and I'll believe that the new Sirius/XM merger will result in cheaper prices when I see it. Again, it's all about choice.
One piece of advice: don't create CDs or DVD-As from MP3s. Start with high quality source material. The conversion from CDA to MP3 and back to WAV just kills the fidelity.
