So I just installed my Archos 504 in my 07TL S. Just went on a four hour road trip and watched 10 episodes of family guy. Using Dom's unit and installed the archos in my center console (just fit) then I purchased a Infrared Unit and Emmitter and installed that in the top sunglass shelf....the interface of the Archos 504 is much slicker then that of the Mediagate, and I can take it on the plain on my business trips. If anyone wants pics let me know, it worked out fantastic. Thanks to everyones directions it only took me 6 hours.

 

Doubt that I will do it but I would like to see pictures if you have time. I have a 504wifi.

I've been contemplating on replacing my Mediagate with an Apple TV. The only real advantages for it is syncing through iTunes wireless and the prettier interface. I would lose out on size and DivX/XviD compatibility.

It's nice to see other alternatives to the Mediagate (since it is a relatively old device). Please post pics of how you've integrated the Archos when you get the chance.

I'm considering getting a 605 when it comes out and I dream of using it in my Acura. The IR was the only problem I hadn't solved yet. Which IR Unit and Emitter are you using? If I could get that working I'd go ahead and pre-order a 605.

I used a unit that I bought from Smarthome.com. Follow this link http://www.smarthome.com/8110.html and then you'll also need to purchase the emitter. Since it requires a 12v, I just came right from the fuse box to power it. I'll post some pics later today.
