'08 TL sub weak sounding?

Ok. I am not sure if it is just me!

I dropped off my 08 TL to a dealer. They were replacing both headlights to address condensation issue (warranty). They gave me a 2010 TSX base model as a loaner and so I tried out the sound system and wow it has bass overload!

Got my TL back and holy crap I can't even hear any bass from my sub although I know it's working. So for some reason I thought the TL bass was better than what I was hearing. almost like there was lesser power going to the sub.

Not sure if dealer disconnected battery to change out headlights but I can't believe there was such a huge difference and I'm sure the TL had better bass than what I was hearing.

Should I try a NAVI system reset via the Map,menu and cancel and/or disconnect the battery to see if the system gets back normal power to the sub?

....or is it just me and that the TL sub is indeed so weak ?

It's either working or it's not. Just turn it on and put your hand over it....if it's moving air then...

Stock sub's not going to do too much anyways

I noticed that when i first test drove the tl. The rest of the speakers are nice IMO. I put a ten in the trunk, finally downloaded winID or whatever and tuned it up and sounds near prestine to my ears.

Sub and amp can be added VERY easy to this car. Take you all of 10mins to hook up after installing amp kit. OP...I'd suggest adding a 10" that will go in small sealed.

I have driven a 2010 TSX as a loaner as well. It was a non-Navi, meaning that it had the basic, non-ELS sound. It sounded much better than my ELS in the TL. Plus our subs rattle like hell too.

I have stock sub disconnected and the 6.5s in the back cause the rear deck to rattle. Something would also need to be done for that.

Here is the simple fix to the rear deck rattle. I cut up a small cloth and stuffed it in the gap of the rear deck and trunk as the thread states. Worked perfectly for me.

It's a stock subwoofer, just have to take it for what it is. I agree though, I was a little disappointed with it when I first bought the car.

I will say though that XM stations tend to have much better bass, not to mention really good quality.

i think i've 're-adjusted' now to the TL stereo... considering that i was in a 08 RDX tech (features a 10" Sub) for about 3 months prior AND i just got off a flight from New Orleans so my ears were still semi-popped...in any case, my love affair for the 3G will not be dampened by this trivial matter. lol.
