08 TL disconnected HFL (plug), still getting booting up message

Hi,

I have had my battery die on me because of the infamous HFL battery drain. I watched some youtube videos, and removed the top panel where the HFL is and disconnected the power. I do not have plans to replace it, I just don't want another battery drain. After replacing my battery I noticed it says "Booting Up" still. Did I remove the wrong connection or is there another connection I missed, or is the "Booting Up" normal after disconnection of the power?

Booting up is normal if you unplugged your HFL. No voice command button works either.

Yep. I did this to my '06 when it malfunctioned. Perpetual "Booting Up" message after that.

I don't know of any recall.

Question Sirius/XM Linked to HFL Module?

I, too am having drain problems caused by the HFL module. If I disconnect the module will it affect my Sirius/XM operation? Thanks!

No, disconnecting the HFL only deactivates it and Voice Commands (mic is in the HFL).

Welcome to AZ.

Good day all, I'm new to the group.
I experienced the same "booting" msg with the HFL removed. I later replaced with a new one ( from Delray Acura), however, "booting" msg is still on. Is there a step missing in the process? I had the car off, replaced the component, turned the car on, checked for HFL service, never comes out of booting mode.

So just to confirm even though the HFL is disconnected, when you put in a new battery the "booting Up" is not draining on the battery? I felt the console and it does feel just a bit warm? What else could be causing that console to be warm other than the HFL?
