07 Radio Plug

Hi,

I want to change the radio in my 05 TL to the 07. Does anyone know where i can get the plugs for the 07?

The grey one and the antenna plug are different.

Thanks
John

the harnesses are very expensive, around 1K for the whole one. Your best bet is to try ebay or local junkyard. They are called pigtails by the way.

i don't have local junkyards here in Germany, who have Acura. There are only 7 TL's here.
My last chance is ebay or here in a forum to get parts.

there is another option. a hard one but can be done.

solder the wires to the unit itself. more then likely you will need a schematic of the unit.

I have done it, plenty of times back in the day.

who recalls two shaft radio's early in the day? ok ok couple of decates ago. shows my age ha?

any way back then when car audio started to heat the market, there were plenty of corvette owners who wanted to fit aftermarket radio's into their ride. the only way was to dissamble the radio and solder the wires and extend the shafts like in this pic

like I said it can be done but it is chalenging.

just becouse you are in a diffrent country should not limit you.
you could try to search on the web and if you do find the harness surely they could ship it.

It's a good idea. I solder the wires directly on the radio and build my own 40pin plug/connector.

It shouldn't be a problem to be in an other country, but i don't know the names you called your parts. So it's very difficult to find the right.

I've searched with harness or wiring, not pigtail yet.

John try this.
contact this person on Ebay acurahondatech http://motors.shop.ebay.com/merchant...rmrsZ1QQ_fromZ he deals mostly with Acura's. he might help locating that wire harness for you.

Also, try one of these places
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp
http://www.partstrain.com/

both above have email addresses and deal with parts they should be able to look up all the salvage yards and see if any are available.

good luck to you.

Yes, i'll post pics here soon. I've to use Acura and Honda parts together because i can't use the navigation system of the acura here in Germany. Our Accord has a similar Navigation System. XM and the Homelink doesn't funktion here.

If you plan on soldering the wires ot the radio I would get the aftermarket radio harness for your 2005.. THen you can solder your wires to the 2007 radio and just plug it into your existing wiring harness.. No hacking up your old harness..

Here is the 04 aftermarket radio wiring harness: http://us.ten.ebid.net/perl/auction....n&from=froogle

I would also buy one of the radio wiring harnesses for your 2007 radio to help figure out which pin is for what.. (if you don't have a helms manual.. and for $10.00 the radio harness could come in handy.)

Here is an auction for that: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...12&refid=store

SO that looks like less than $30.00 for all the parts you need!

I'll use the DVD-drive from an Accord to get the european mapps. Perhaps the HFL Unit, too. The DVD drive from our Accord has the same software but i've 1 menu for language, where i can choose between 12 speeches. The Acure doesn't have this menu in the software.

If i can get the original plugs from a 07 TL, so i don't need the aftermarket wiring. I only need the 40pin plug.

i think that the aftermarket 2005 plug will still help u with wiring! it will be like installing an aftermarket headunit in the car.. u can do all the wiring outside of the car and then just use the plugs u made to install the new radio.. If you can get me a pic of the back of the plug I can see if they have one at the junk yard.. (I doubt it tho since there are NEVER any TLs at the local yard I go to) ..

This plugs are the same on 05 and 07 and don't help me. You have 3 Connectors on the backside of the radio. The white one is for Power and normaly speekers front and rear. The black is for XM.
The grey one, who i'm searching for is for the display bus, woofer, centerspeeker, HFL Mute and Amp mute on the older radio of 04 - 06 TL's.
The newer Radio has an other grey plug cause the Active Nois Cancelation and so on. The older one has a 20-pin and the newer one a 40-pin plug.
