HFL - How to answer calls?

I know that I am supposed to just press the "talk" button to receive calls.

When I do that, the call is answered through my phone (motorola razor), and not through the HFL. So, I have to press the "talk" again, and say "transfer" to transfer the call from my phone to the HFL.

What do I do wrong? Does anybody have the same problem? Is it phone type related?

Is thephone linked at the time, is the little phone icon showing on the dash?
If so you might want to unpair the phone and then pair it again.

I hope the problem is not phone related-- my Razr V3 operates flawlessly.
Oh, the newest Razr, the V3xx (AT&T version) with the 1.3 meg camera, may not be compatible with the HFL.

If you have any Razr besides the V3xx, check the phone settings:
Phone settings>car settings>auto handsfree "on."

Is the call ringing on your phone or the HFL? If it's ringing on your phone, yes, you have to answer and say transfer. But if it is ringing on your HFL, then delete the phone off the system and put it back on.

The phone is ringing through the HFL...but guess what, I checked what Will said, my car setting on the phone is "BLUETOOTH ON", but it's set up to automatically answer call within 5 seconds.

When I receive calls, I still press the "TALK BUTTON" to answer it, it probably puts the call on hold (since it was answered automatically by my phone through the HFL)

Next time I get a call, I will just let it ring for 5 secs, and the HFL should probably answer the call automatically...

thks all for your help...esp to Will.

You're welcome, but I think I gave you the wrong answer!

Turn OFF the auto-answer on the phone (just above the auto hands free setting)-- that way the HFL will pick up when you press the HFL button. I don't think the HFL auto answers.
Hopefully that resolves the issue!

I have the opposite problem, when I call thru my phone, it doesn't transfer to bluetooth.....can I automate this so If I'm in the car, the phone call goes thru HFL without tapping and saying Transfer?

And since we are at this topic, is there any way I can see the name of the person who is calling on my MID and not just the number? I have imported my phonebook, but I'm still getting only numbers when people call me. Thanks (and sorry for hi-jacking the thread!)

No, that transfer can't be automated, and there is no way to display a caller's name instead of number in the MID.

And that's just for the wrong advice I initially gave.
If OP sends me any cash, I'll be sure to send some to darksom1 to assuage any hurt feelings.

nvm, i didn't read too well that you want to answer automatically instead of pressing the talk button. How much trouble is it to press the button??

Ha ha ha...I should not have created any jeaolusy...lol, but Will pointed out to the right direction...and a lot of other people offered some possible solutions (including you darksom...lol, and tekhnoking, A Siq TL, Ghosthunter, HONgDA)..

Hei HONgDA, what happens if you wait 5 seconds and you don't push the talk button, will the call be answered thru the HFL or thru the phone automatically?

For the OP: I have a different phone but the same problem from time-to-time. I'd say about 1 out of 5 calls.

It seems if I wait before answering, I have better success. IOW - I'll let the phone ring 2 or 3 times before answering.

I think it's related more to the phone than to the HFL.

I do want to check the "auto answer" option, but I am pretty sure it is "off".

Same thing happens like you described. I always press the talk button to answer the call. But now I see the problem. It would be nice to answer automatically but not a problem I can't deal with.

An old post that I found from searching, but here's a new twist.

I noticed a similar issue with the Razr (V3M). Here's the scenario:

1. I record a new ringtown and associate this ringtone to a phone number in contact's list
2. The contact associated with this ringtone calls my phone (that is also linked to HFL)

Result: My phone rings but HFL does not ring or mute audio. I answer the phone manually and then HFL connects like normal and I can talk over the car's microphone.

What I found out is that the problem is recording the new ringtone. I can change this contact's ringtone to a standard ringtone and things work as normal.
It appears that the Razr doesn't forward to HFL when it starts ringing when using a non-standard ringtone. I haven't tried a downloaded ringtone. This might explain when HFL works sporadically.

My 12yr old Daughter got her first cell phone last week and recorded a song as a ringtone in my phone. I noticed every time she called me my HFL was horked up but anytime someone else called me things worked normally. I changed my ringtone for her and all is now well.
