06 Acura TL:
Why is it that i hear mostly from the front speakers and not the back? It seems as though i am at a concert and they're playing in front of me. I remember my old 97 accord it sounds as though i'm in the middle of the car where the front and back puts out the same amount of sounds. Could someone care to explain this? thanks.

My 06 is the same way. I'm doing testing on the levels now, and they are lower in the back with the settings set mid way. I have everything run to an aftermarket amp now with LOCs off the factory amp. I'm 100% sure of this as well. I'm not sure yet, but it sounds as if the signal is different also. Like crossed over different. Anyway, my amp has INT and EXT settings, which means, for the rear channels I can use the external signal, or get the rear signal from the fronts using the internal path of the amp. When I use the internal path, the sound from the rears is twice as loud and sounds MUCH richer. The aftermarket speakers play FAR lower. I need to run more test like some voltage tests and check all my connections to make sure I don't have something screwed up, but it's looking like the rear signal is manipulated in some way.

ok, did some testing. Here are the results. The rear stage is full range. BUT, it is crossed over with the sub channel. the mids in the rear are crossed over higher than the front and what is left is handled by the 8" sub. I notice this since i no longer have the factory sub and all the speakers have been replaced. My new sub is crossed over at 40 hz so there is a gap in the information in the rear. I'm not concerned with it since i'm in the front and I don't like a huge amout of sound from the rear anyway. I like my soundstage in front of me. Anyway, thought I would pass my findings along.
I'm going out on a limb here...
The rear speakers are simply producing Mids and Lows. They're lacking the high frequencies (that you're probably looking for) due to the lack of a tweeter. The fronts not only have the door speakers hitting the mids and lows, but also have the tweeters on the dash making up for what the rear doesn't have.
I think if you want equilibrium in sound quality from both the front and back, you will need to incorporate tweeters in the rear somehow. (i.e. - mount them to the rear deck angling towards the front OR change out the rear door or rear deck speakers with a pair that will provide more highs while the other pair provides the lows)
Amps and crossovers highly recommended.

Yes, I would agree with a totally stock system, but I've replaced every speaker in the car and installed new tweeters in the rear deck. I have clear highs and midrange now, but the midbass frequencies, at some level, are crossed over and sent to the 8" sub. Now that is gone and has been replaced with a 10" sub so it handles this. But, I cross my sub over luch lower than the OEM 8". So there is some missing information there. I can use the signal from the fronts by using the suming capabilities of the amp I have but I lose fader control. It's all ok though because it sounds fine. I can still keep my soundstage forward and still have a good enough signal in the back for passengers.
I used this post:

for instructions on ripping CDs and turning .mp3s into DVD-A's and it worked flawlessly. Not only can I cram 3 or 4 full-length CDs onto one DVD, I can throw in some downloaded MP3s to make my own DVD-As (burned to standard Memorex DVD-R discs)
AND
the sound quality is so far superior to my standard CDs. I'm not an audiophile and I'm not a big car audio techie, but to me, the DVD-As I made sound better and the bass is better on the low end.
Might be worth a try before investing in equipment and such.
