hey guys,

bought a used 04'TL from a guy and the navi wasn't working in the car. it says "please check disc". the guy told me there were no disc in the system. so i found a guy on the net that was selling is own disc from his 04'TL as well (20$).

it's and orange disc with the 3.30G version. i don't have the owners manual of the car so i couldn't check wich disc it needed.

so i've putted the disc in, it said "dowloading software" and after the same message came back "please check disc". there's no image that came or nothing.

on the disc, there's a few dates like: 2002 info USA, 2002 navigation techn., 2003 alpine elect.

is there a chance that finally it wasn't for an 04'TL and might be for the previous generation?

 

Could be but you most likely have to send the DVD unit to Alpine for repairs.

 

Yes, but unlikely that is your problem.
The TL's Navigation system updates software with each new version, but apparently will not read older discs without the more recent software loaded into the Navi. if the prior owner had a 3.50 DVD, the Navi won't read the 3.30 version.

You may want to install a more recent disc-- 3.80, 3.90, 3AO or 3BO-- to see if the Navi works. Each of those Orange discs is post-2009.

If the Navi doesn't work, you'll have to pull the DVD drive and send it to Alpine for repairs.

Same thing happened to me...pulled and send to Alpine...service was awesome, fast and relatively cheap.
