Is your TL garaged?
I'm looking at picking up a new TL, either a 04 or 05. I would definitely pick up the 04 right now, but there is one problem. My garage is a mess, the opener is dead and its filled with crap. My dad thinks that this is a good reason to wait for the 05, so we can take care of all that.
Just out of curiosity, are there any real negatives associated with parking your car outside? Weather isn't really a problem since I live in so cal, and I understand that it'll get dirty faster. But are there any perm problems, i.e. paint discoloration?
Hell, the dealers themselves leave the cars all outside anyway, right?

I don't have a garage -- so far so good!
Here is a pic of the acura w/ my altima right outside my apartment:

I clean/wash/wax both cars regularly... not sure what I'll do with my TL when the snow comes. hmm..

well the cars at the dealers have protective clear coat coverings on the paint (or white sticky paper)....i live in North jersey and have mine in a garage. i'd recommend anyone to garage their TL. i mean....it's a $35 thou car, gotta keep it clean/safe. plus, my garages are big enough to do some detail work in inclament weather. so depending on how big yours is, that would be a plus too. as for waiting for the 05s, I WOULD WAIT, just because of the new year. (i wish i waited for the 04s..) *gun to head*. wait it out, clean up the garage, make one side (assuming it's a multiple car garage) the "car side"....you know stuff like that. good luck. -shawn
I used my new TL (6MT Dec03) as an excuse to build a new garage. I find you can keep cars much cleaner and have less damage opportunies when in a garage. (My wife's 4runner that we had before the garage now has some dents in her hood due to stuff falling out of trees.) If you don't have trees might not be a big deal.
I would get a windshield reflector for when it is hot.

I live in San Bernardino County.
Don’t park your car outside!
You get paint decay under the sun, ppl sitting on it, kids bumping into it, water sprinkler wetting it.
After all, you have a garage. Move your ass and clean it.
Get a garage door opener cost you $200, takes an hour to install.

Haha, okay! It's settled! I'll go put a deposit on a 2005 today, hehe.
On that note, anyone from so cal know who it is that rents out those big ass trash bins? We plan to just throw everything out, but I don't think you can put such a big load on the normal trashmen.

I live in a Condo and I am keeping it garaged over the summer. We have a lot of cars though, so my dad's summer mercedes is going in the garage with a car cover, and the other half of the garage is filled with junk. I would clean it up and put my car in there, but there really isn't anyplace to put anything, and there is a workbench right in the middle. Plus, since I'll probably be the first to leave in the mornings once school starts, I wouldn't be able to get out if I was in the garage.
That being said, I am not looking forward to keeping my car on the Driveway, but I'm sure it will be fine as long as I maintain the Zaino on it.

put your shit into large trash bags and set them somewhere around the house, hand out couple of them every week.
or, borrow a pick up truck. dump your shit behind a walmart or any other businesses at night. there are huge dumpsters everywhere, behind all stores or businesses.
prepare a nice home for your tl. it deserves it, or else you don't deserve it
That is too funny - I was thinking the exact thing and almost had my finger on the trigger to type in a similar reply...

Tell the folks just hanging out in the driveway to go wash those front rims on the TL - so dirty!

that's a funny question
most people park their big wheels and tricles in their garages and leave their $35,000 investments outside. Heck, I'd clean up the garage and by a TL pronto . . . why wait?
parking outside? things you may/will have to contend with . . .
1. Parking under trees, hense . . . Tree Sap (yes some trees do rain Sap
2. Bird droppings
3. Teenagers throwing eggs in the middle of the night
4. UAW workers just laid off
If I had to park outside I guess I'd have no choice, but then by parking inside despite some of the problems mentioned above you would be doing less of this . . .
ing you TL

Put the car in the garage if you can. It will stay cleaner.

Don't forget about the damn cats.. When I was only able to afford condos in the past without garages and only covered parking, I always drove to work in the morning with paw prints all over the car!! To have a place with a garage around where I live cost ya an extra 100 grand...

I park my car under one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...317655976&rd=1
I bought it about two weeks before I picked up the TL and I don't know what I would do about it. It definately saves me from washing my car so often, and is also great for when I'm cleaning out the interior and tidying up my trunk....
I highly recommend, at the least, covered parking.

i live in sb county too. don't worry about it getting dirty coz it will get dirty no matter what. worry about the other people who don't have their own TL and hate you coz you got one. you're a little safe if you park it in your driveway. but man if you park it in the streets, people can just hit it and drive off just like that. my neighbors caravan was side swiped while it was parked on the street and the guy just took off. so ya, protect your investment and put it in the garage. even if the car is leased, you still drive it right? you want the car to keep looking good leased or not
. don't you ever look at other cars and wonder about the owner?
I park in the dungeon -

It amazes me that people park their Lexus and Mercedes outdoors on my street. You're just asking to have your car keyed or windows smashed when you street park in NYC.

Amazingly I've been doing this for over 20 years without a scratch to any of my cars.
My TL, just like my former Altima SE and SVT Contour, never saw my driveway sitting still unless they were getting washed. And my Altima and TL get parked under cover in a garage at work as well, so little or no sun damage, either. Plus I don't drive my car when there is a threat of thunderstorms.. I use my Ranger truck. An application of wax lasted two years on the Altima due to treatment like this.
The funny thing for me is, the garage is the most DANGEROUS place for my car!!!! I have kids and unfortunately, the garage is narrow. When they take their bikes, scooters, skateboards, ramps, rails, etc. in and out, invariably, one of the cars is gonna get it.
The sad thing is the TL has such crappy paint. It's only 3 months old and I already have several scratches. My 6 year old Toyota Sienna looks better!!!
But I wouldn't be without a garage, especially in the winter. I will NOT scrape windows!!!!

We always use the garages - apart from the fact that we HAVE to under our association rules, it's just more secure. Still have auto theft/break-in nightmares from the old country.
I'm really lucky at work - they provide covered parking for free to anyone who wants it on a first come, first served basis. Trouble is, I'm paranoid about getting a door ding, so I park under one of the trees. Just as shady and I'm all by myself!
