OP - that's absolutely unacceptable. I hope the fact you drove away with it in that condition doesn't work against you in any way. They need to take care of all of those issues and then have a sit down with their entire staff in terms of customer delivery expectations.
gatr - you are very bad, but I did laugh out loud.

Ugh, that's horrible.
You should definitely bust your insurance company's balls, as they are responsible for the current diminished value of the car. They obviously need to make it right, whatever the cost to them.
If that includes a friggen' full bare metal respray, then so be it. It'll cost them so much they may look for another shop to do business with, as it should be in a free market. No wonder the owner is concerned.

People learn in life this saying isn't true "Nice guys don't finish first"
I've learned the hardway and realize that in order to get what you want being nice doesn't work.
when I had my accord totaled by a redlight runner. Geico, who was my insurer at the time. Wanted to blame it 50-50. Despite me having several eye witnesses to this bitch flying across the intersection.
I had to contact the witness so they can call geico and give their statements.
I had to follow up almost on a daily basis on wtf is going on since the adjuster wanted to have the car fixed.
I had to fight to have it totaled because the whole front frame was twisted.
MEanwhile, the other parties insurance, State Farm would contact me and give me updates as to what is going on. Which I found odd but however, at least someone was getting back to me.
I dropped GEICO the second I moved and till this day, I get mail from them wanting me to get insured by them.
GEICO is cheap and so is their fight for you.
sorry for the rant. got flashbacks reading your response.

You know by using "their" specialist shops, all they do is cut corners every which way, hence the OP's predicament. Their only goal is to get it fixed cheapest and fastest way possible and on to the next car. They claim "lifetime warranty" etc... Nearly ANY shop gives you such warranties. Don't be swayed by this. If you use your own shop they are more likely to cater to your satisfaction.
I went to my own body shop and pursued the other insurance company on my own as a 3rd party claim. The car was put on a lift to show all the damage from under the car too. That's the way to get the max out of them but you have to be in for a serious fight. Guess what the damage REALLY was adjusted for? $6500!! Sounds crazy right? But it's not that the car that had really severe damage at all. It's that I had the right and ability to get the car fixed no expense spared, full OEM and I demanded it. Of course the other company fought back, trying to split liability 50%. lol. I got REAR ended, hello? No defense. They were blatantly lying and expecting me to fold. They are lucky I didn't go after them for diminished value too. I said I have no money desperation so I am not intimidated, I will fight. I paid everything out of pocket to get my car back on the road and they dragged it out 8 months. I tried arbitration (they wouldn't agree) and then put 2 lawsuits on them (because of $5k limit in small claims).
You know how I won? I wrote a letter to the state insurance department with a complaint on what they were doing. 2 days before trial the company dropped everything and gave me a $6200 check. Magic. Hehe. Yea that's $300 less than I wanted but hey, I wasn't complaining. $4k more than Geico wanted to give me. My passenger was not hurt but went to ER to just get checked out. They paid for that too 100%. So the total claim actually ended up more than that. Totally worth it to me in my case. They expect you to be desperate for money and settle for peanuts. Get what you are owed.
Tort law means you are supposed to be put back in the condition you were in or better. Not worse off. And don't expect your own insurance company to fight for you. They cover their own backs. Geico would have NEVER been able to help me like this.
But I still have kept Geico only because they are CRAZY cheaper than anyone else, nearly half. But I'm prepared to know what to do to in a claim situation.

I don't have anything good to say about F'ing geixo. They tried to return my "repaired" car in a worse condition than it came in.
They left the same damaged rim on the car where the car was hit. They claimed the crash didn't cause that damage 😡😡. But I took pics at the accident scene showing proof that it was caused due to the accident!
I never want to deal with those schmucks again! I hope you get your situation resolved in a timely matter!

Congrats on getting it repaired correctly. I just recently got mine back and my headlight went out as well. Did they fix yours free of charge or explain what was wrong? I purchased a replacement but haven't installed it yet. Somebody mentioned a loose connection. If that's the case, I hope I can return the one I bought. Those things are expensive!

Very happy for you, OP. Your car looks much better! It sounds like it wasn't even that hard to get it fixed correctly. How much BS did you have to deal with from Geico?
