Yet Another Clear Bra Thread (LA Area installers?)
Hey I did a search on clear bras in the forum and got some pretty good information, but I wanted to start a new one so I could get a group of LA TL'ers that had good experiences and if they paid alot for installation. I was looking at Xpel and they are really expensive, and Rockblocker which is cheaper. Are there any others out there that have other products and like them?
I am leaving for New York in 3 days driving cross country in my TL and really want it protected before it gets about 8000 miles in a month.
Thanks for all your help

I haven't gotten it done yet, but I plan on taking mine to Sheeld Industries in Huntington Beach. It also looks like the installers get a huge break on the product beacuse I think the shops have been only asking around $500 (maybe a little more) installed.

Is it too late to get this done if you have had the car for a few months and there are chips already?
Paint is cheap....
Any suggestions on fixing the small chips?

I install on cars that have a couple chips on them all the time. In fact, with how soft the new water-based paints they are using now are, if you have more than a few hundred miles on your car you will certainly have have a couple chips somewhere. Touch ups will not affect the adhesion or installation of the material, but you will still be able to see the touch-ups through the film as well as you would see them without thte film, my usual advice to customers is if the chip is not down to the plastic/metal than they might just leave it alone since I have seen alot of sloppy touch ups that end up looking worse than the original chip!

yes I just noticed that, looks like they are rebuilding their site. Anyhow they are in Torrance and have been VERY reasonably priced to other forum members, tell them you are on the TL forum and will mention them around and Im sure they will take that into consideration

Since this is an old thread, instead of making a new one, I would just like to bump this one and ask, if anyone has gotten their clear bra installed lately? I'm looking to get one installed asap. I already have a few chips on my brand new bumper. EDL nor does Sheeld Industries have a website and so I'm not sure if they are out of business or what not.

I got a quote back from ultimateautocare asking for total cash price installed for full kit = $750. Does that sound reasonable? They also said they will touch up the few chips on my bumper at no charge.

Look on ebay for seller Extreme Tint, they sell the 3M product and a video -have 8mm thick stuff and extra pieces for in front of the rear wheels. Call themn direct and they will hook you up with a discount for purchase of items together- the deluxe kit plus some exrtra material etc. Have parts for mirrors front lower front, hood, extra for headlights

And Blacktl
Yes you should do all your chip repair, touch up paint, and a really good wax job first.
You put the plastic on and leave it up to 5 years in most cases. It becomes the new clear coat on the paint

I would do it myself, but honestly, I just don't trust myself doing it. Doing a search about clear bras and doing the installation themselves, said they would never do it again.

Thanks. They told me to go under ultimateautocare.com and that is why I couldn't find their address. I got it done today, took about 4 hrs. Luckily they had movies to watch or else I would've went out of my mind. They did an excellent job. Had a choice between Avery and 3M and went with the 3M. Turns out that other brands scratch easily and wont come off whereas with 3M, just have to rub it with rubbing alcohol and it will look brand new again. Thanks for recommending them!

$690 without the headlights. Paid full in cash so they gave me that set price. I've been looking into other companies as well and a lot of them charged around $800. I don't know why I was getting charged more then other people but, I guess the TL-S is more difficult to do?
