YEEEEESH - Google isn't perfect
I was randomly browsing for TL parts and came across this..... thing... they try to pass off as an Acura in Canada. Maybe I'm a bit to USA-centric but I've never heard of the EL before.
I keep hearing that movie line running through my head: "Ewww... I don't wanna get any Daiwoo on my hands!"

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it truly does exist. It is based on our American Civic. I've seen one in the states before...it's basically somewhat luxury civic.
I saw one in the states that I thought was a civic and was like...wait a minute, civic's don't have leather interior.....then I noticed the Acura badging....
Anyway...I might be wrong though.

That's what I figured they did, but still while it may be old news to most of you, it's new to me.
Although I do think by releasing a civic as an Acura, it hurts the overall image of the brand by having such a low end car in it's lineup.

is perfect, don't talk blasphemous again. As traidsgangster said, the EL is a sort of luxury Civic as an Acura...

My Mom got an EL shortly before I got my TL. You're right, it is a Civic, but it's nicer, and has all the luxury stuff that she wanted, and she didn't have to pay extra for any of it. It is a really popular car in Canada (most Hondas & Acuras are, though).
All true...the EL is unique to Canada. Built on the same assembly line as the Civic - Alliston, Ontario (which builds all Civics for North America, BTW)
The line between Hondas and Acuras is pretty blurry. Some common platforms, lost of common parts, assembled in Honda plants. Let's not be "Acura snobs" - it's all one big happy family, right?

I wanted the extra toys.
I wanted the extra quality.
I wanted a car that was much less common.
And I wanted the extra prestige.
I'm a snob. So shoot me. :P

If it had a K20A motor, I'd be inclined to take a trip to Montreal and get one as a daily beater.
