Would it make sense if....(A-spec lip kit)

Hello all, I'm an unlucky SoB with an alabaster silver metallic 08 tl type s. I have been searching everywhere for this lip kit but cannot find one :/ would it make sense for me to purchase one a different color (because I can't find unpainted ones either) and have it done at a shop to re paint it ASM? I'm just curious of the pros and cons of this. Thank you all for listening

if you cant find one your color; the only way is to buy a different color and have a shop paint it to the correct color.
should be about $250 or less

for all 3(front,side,rear) would definitely be more than $250 to paint at a reputable body shop. if you are doing it at some mickey mouse shop then I guess any price is possible

I was in the same boat as you ...I ended up buying the side skirts in ASM and front and rear in WDP. Took all of it to a local shop and ended up paying $500 to have the front bumper, and front/rear skirts painted ASM and the kit installed. Well worth the $$$

Do it Tesh-better hurry though. You never know how long they'll make these things. Realize they're at least 6 years old now.....

meh, it cost about $250 for a bumper re-spray.

i havent actually measured but it looks like the aspec kit has less area than a bumper.

^yeah but body shops don't charge based on "area" they do it by pieces. that's how they make their money.

OP, like everyone else said...just buy it in a diff color and get it repainted. might be able to save some money buying it used and then getting it repainted, since you'll have fresh paint anyway it's not like anyone will know it was used.

OP, keep in mind that you're not going to want to go cheap on a body shop if you decide to go this route. Silver is one of if not the hardest colors to match. I don't think the estimates in this thread are that far off.

I know what he's talking about....

i'm just saying...it would be pretty fucked up if 3 smaller pieces cost more than 1 large piece

Sometimes it's not about the size Justin...it's more time consuming for body shops to do small trim pieces and the like because they have to make sure to get enough paint on the edges that when they buff they don't burn it. Body shop guy told me it took 4 hours for them to do the one hood trim piece on my car because they kept burning the edge when they would do a final buff. So he had to paint and repaint...I would imagine with all the contours and edges on the sideskirts that they would be terrible to paint.

I was in the same boat with my A-Spec side skirts ( I have a CBP) It was $200 to paint all 4 pieces. The body shop did match them perfectly tho.

I would think to paint the full kit and to do proper prep work it would be over 500.00. This is not taking it to Maco or some back yard guy. Body work/Paint is done by flat rate, it doesnt matter if the lip kit has less area then a bumper. Its still more prep work and parts.

$250 sounds doable, but it all depends on who you know. I grew up involved in the used car industry via my grandfather who was a dealer for 40+ years, so through that I know tons of people who do great work for a fraction of retail. If you have any connections, this would be the time to use them indeed. Good Luck!

You can find an ASPEC front and rear bumper from http://www.heeltoeauto.com
1) Pick model of the acura
2) Exterior
3) Click on front or rear bumper
4) Add OEM color
Now you dont need to spend more money to paint it the color that you want

I'm in this same boat with ASM aspec kit. I can get the rear and sides in ASM, but I would have to get the front lip in another color how much do you think it would be to just have the front lip paint matched to ASM? Also, what color would be best to color match WDP or PMM I would figure PMM since it has the metallic in in what do you guys think?

$150-$250 roughly. Doesn't really matter what color you get.

I had a base rear A-Spec lip repainted to Redondo Red Pearl for $163 at my local reputable body shop; they do amazing work.

I was able to get the rear and sides in asm and got the front lip in gold, picked it up at acura and dropped it off at a shop to have it resprayed in asm, they charged me $100 for the front lip, it took them about 4 hours, then installed it the next day

It costs more than $250 to have it done at a good shop that will warranty the paint job for as long as you own the car.

i was in kinda in the same boat as you also, i have a kbp and couldnt get the sideskirts in kbp had to buy em in wdp and paint them it costs me 250 to paint the sides and install them which i priced around and had quotes of 350-600 but this was a great job

with that said i know in a few dealers in nyc all they have is wdp, nbp and YOUR silver kits left. i was lucky to get my front and rear lips in kbp they told me at the dealor that the dealer only has the white black and silver kits whole left and wont be making anymore of the other kits... so if you want look up paragon acura in queens nyc or valley stream acura in long island new york and see if they can ship to u in Ct
