Would 50% tint over 35% tint net 13%

Would 50% tint over 35% tint net 13%
I have 35% tint all the way around and even with the black interior think it is too light afterall. If I added 50% on top of this do I net 13% (.75 x .35 x .5 = .13). .75 is based on orginal window that has some tint built into it. If this is correct than I would rather tear off the 35% tint and install 20% as 13% is too dark. Thanks

I wonder the same thing. I did this years ago on my Cadillac. I had 35% all around which was predictably too light. I layered another 35% on top for the rear windows calculating maybe I'd halve the light transmission. I got my desired effect just perfect. I compared it to a sheet of 20% and it was a tad darker just as I wanted. Is the math accurate to the actual light transmission? I don't know. But just guesstimate how you want it, you'll get close I bet. Maybe you'll get double the UV/shatter/scratch protection as well?

Removing the old tint is not fun. On the same old car back in the day I tried this "light senstive" type tint that was hot on the market at that time. It darkened to 20% in the day and lightened to about 50% at night. I didn't like it because it was too bluish. (even though it matched my blue interior). I removed the tint and found a layer of clear glue that was such a biaach to take off. It took me hours to scrape and I accidently cut areas of the glass (scratched), weatherseal and my hands. I told myself "never again" and so the 2nd time around I layered it and voila! Got perfect results.
I too wish there was the perfect grade as I feel 35% is defintely too light and 20% is too dark for me. I have heard some out there who have found 25-30% tint out there but I haven't found any local tint shops who know what I'm talking about so I feel dumb shutup and take what they have.
