yeah man that is addictive... when I am walkin up to the car I am flip and closing with my index the entire time... then the funny thing is when I sit close the door it seems to always be closed so I flip again...

one thing, it flips open in my pocket occasionally

whats the point? once youve seen it once, youve seen them all. whats the difference between the one the OP had done and the one that the other 300+ people on AZ probably had done?

Did you pick up that blank in Florida somewhere online? I'd love to have it done, but I'm nervous about Ebay.

got directly from the dealer, but looks like i'm going to have to return it. cuz its not milled and etc. and to find someone to do that is a headache. i just bought one from FLBusa to save all the hassle...

Correct.. I thought my friend was just taking the key to get cut yesterday but he had it programmed as well

Niello wanted $120 to program the chip so it's still cheaper this route..

thats nuts. i just changed the entire ignition switch, and got both keys cut(laser cut) for under 100 bucks. no need to re-program the immobilizer sicne i just swapped out the chips.

I don't want to change my locks or take apart the steering column as my car is still under warranty. Also, should I ever loose my key the dealer can cut one for me, I think they would have a hard time matching one purchased off the net(?)..

I'm happy with it.. I got what I wanted without having to take my car apart

I was being a smart ass
(and lazy) sorry

rbf351 - I thought you just purchased a used cut key off eBay and an ignition lock for it.. my point was should something happen like all of your keys are gone the dealer can lookup the vin and get a key made... with aftermarket keys that probably won't be possible.. and again, changing the ignition switch will most likely affect your warranty in a bad way

i'd rather not have a warranty item in the future be in question because I changed the ignition switch.. if you're out of warranty I guess it doesn't matter.

what i was was a complete ignition with a perfect key, and had 3 more oem keys made. so if i ever lose one i'll never have a problem

got mine programmed at the local Acura store yesterday after work. took them about 30 minutes, maybe less.

while i was waiting, a salesman that i knew from church let me take a Type-S out for a spin. wow! first time i've piloted a Type-S and the differences were phenomenal! the first thing that caught me was the steering. immensely stiffer than my 04 setup. i'm not a fan of any type of dummy manual transmission, but the SS setup in the 5A Type-S was VERY responsive. now, i'm just waiting for them to get a WDP 6MT in, then i just might have to bite. the KBP is also another hot color, but the white won me over BIG TIME.

i purchased my switchblade key here on the forum, it was the first time that my local Acura store programmed this key to a pre-switchblade TL, they said it was a pretty cool idea. i told them about the forum here and to check it out sometime. i believe the grand total that i paid for the key and progamming was about $150. well worth it in my opinion. plus my mem 2 still works.

Finally!

It's been a while since I received FLBUSA's mem1 & mem2 keys. Got them cut at a Locksmith (they were quite impressed with FLBUSA's craftmanship). They cut a demo key as a test (didn't want to mess with the artwork right off the bat). Admittedly they had some fun working around the FOB portion, but they (it was a team effort as everyone wanted to be involved) enjoyed the challenge.
Went to Erin Mills Acura (Mississauga, Ontario) and 1 hour... LIFE IS GOOD. Enjoying the TL just a little bit more than before.
I went to a couple of other dealers in the GTA that had done these before, but they said the immobilizer chip programming wouldn't work (different chip technologies).
Erin Mills just ensured that I had all the keys (and ownership paper) and was good to go.
THANKS FLBUSA!!!!!!

one could only hope!

I think if for some reason I do break the flip part I can easily swap my cut key portion into the new housing and just re-program the fob (actually the fob part pops out too.. so just a new housing)
