Wiring problems?

I was driving my TL and notice my cruise control wasn’t working. I was going to call the dealership but just never got around to it. Well today I went to my friend’s house to go pick something up and he was following me and asked me if I had been on the brakes all the way from his house. I told him no and asked why and he told me my brake lights had been on. So I figured that’s why my cruise control doesn’t work. Well I turned off my headlights when I was driving home and the brake lights went out. As soon as I stepped on the brakes my parking lights and all the interior dash lights like the steering wheel, CD player, select reset... buttons all lit up. Has anyone ever had this problem before I'm going to call my dealership tomorrow and see what they can tell me about it?

this is my first post and i have tried to search for the problem on here but couldnt find anything

Thanks
Josh

I doubt it's the wiring. Assembly nowadays is all with plug and play harnesses - makes things idiotproof. Shorts happen but they're rare with today's assembly techniques. More likely a bad ECU. Get it fixed before it dies on you when you least want it to.

A broken tail-light LED screws up the interior lighting and cruise?!? Kinda hard to believe but I hope this fixes your problem.

thats what they said. but then again i was talking to the tech that worked on my car which is another one of my friends and he seemed like the car pissed him off. i dunno you know these new cars and all the electical stuff going into them. it could have had a short in the broken LED and messed up the whole system. the reason cruise didnt work was cause the ECU kept thinking the brakes pressed and it turns off when the brakes are pressed.
