Wipers left the black rubber stain over the windshield... ...
Anyone ever has problems to get some serious stain by your wipers?
When using wipers in rain, on the very left side of the windshield, on its end of the left wiper, it always leaves some black rubber stain out there. Then, it will begin to make some noise when you wipe to that line each time.
My dealer has replaced both of them once, and it comes again after using an hour with "Int" speed today.
But I know if I use the fastest speed to operate my wipers in rainy days, this won't happen. I just hate to clean those rubber stain so frequently.
Thanks... I'm not complaining, just like to find an easy way to eliminate this issue...

same problem
I had the same problem. The wipers are cheap. Either replace with a better brand or use rainX. I put rainx on. Works great but you will have to re-apply every couple of weeks. Particularily if you live in rainy areas like Seattle....

You should get some SILLBLADES. However, don't use it with Rain-X. The wipers are warranted to work for 5 years! I plan to upgrade in the future but many members here like this product. Here's the link:

Re: same problem
Thanks. If RainX can survive in rainy Seattle and cold Toronto, I shall be able to use it... I would think of all options... I usually have wipers changed in a year for all my cars 'cause of the snow...

We've been getting some rain recently and noticed the same thing on my TL. A combination of Rain-X and cleaning the windshield regularly has helped in the past with other cars that I've owned so I'll give it a shot with this one.

And I thought it was road grime or the tire shine they put on at the dealer, but yes.. smattered smears all up the windshield. I keep windex automotive wipes in the handy plastic resealable pouch in the car, get out , wipe it down, but it is an ugly situation.

Yes, this just happened to me too. It was the same on my 02 Type S, and the dealer replaced the blades and it never happened again. I guess I need to have these replaced too. Weird!

rets, just buy the silblades and don't look back. They cost, but I had them on my previous car and they were well worth the money. I just ordered a set for my TL and (finally) one set for my wife for Xmas. Give yourself the gift of safety!

It rained today (third day with the car), and I used the wipers. Worked perfectly. No black stain that you guys are talking about.
Coming from a 1995 Volvo with a whole heap of problems (including bent wiper arm and crappy blades), I sure appreciate the TL's wipers.

I just got my SilBlades and tested them in Cleveland's inclement weather. They sent a 24" left blade and a 19" right blade. The stock Acura left blade is 25", but the 24" SilBlade works perfectly well in its place.
Edit: The longest size the SilBlades come in is 24", so they can't offer the correct size. I'll be sending them an email letting them know the correct 2004 TL size in hopes that maybe they'll consider adding an inch for us.

Thanks, neuronbob,
I was gonna to PM you last night for this outcome, but decided not to do so until the end of this holiday week.
BTW, is your order the "Carbon Fiber Color frame-black blade" black? Ultra SilBlade?
Merry Christmas...

You can buy PIAA silicone wiper blade refills. It cost $5 to $7 each. No need to replace the whole unit unless you really want to or for aesthetic reasons. Here is a site that has the refills (http://www.imotorgear.com/dept.asp?s...l-piaa-blades&). Or just search google.

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
Much better than RainX is a product called:
PPG Aquapel... (it bonds to the glass better - last longer - works better)
do a search on google.com
it used to be installed by ProCare Service Centers here Houston, they don't carry it anymore because of lack of sales (bad marketing if you ask me)

I see that PIAA sells the silicone blade refills. Searching the Net shows they are about $5 to $8 each for the refill.
Please confirm the size for the Acura 04. Is it 26" and 18"?

I am thinking of getting the PIAA wiper blade refills. They are only around $5 to $8.00 each. Please confirm the sizes please. Is it 26 and 18 inches? It does not measure exactly. I think it is metric.

Too bad the PIAA refills come in 24 or 26. I guess I can buy the 26 and cut it to fit. Even the Silblades come in 24 inches. Since the car is very new, I rather just replace the blades than the whole unit.

However, Acura ever provides me info by the metric system.
76622-SDA-A01 Rubber (650mm)
76632-SEP-A01 Rubber (475mm)

Okay, it happened to me today.
It was raining pretty hard as I was driving from San Jose up to Berkeley. I switched the wipers to the high speed, and I began to see the black rubber stain that you guys are talking about.
I was running out of gas later on as I was driving, so I pulled into a gas station and gassed up. At the same time, I got the windshield cleaner that they provide at the gas station and rubbed the rubber stain. It came right off, albeit with some hard scrubbing.
Anyway, it seems like this occurs only when set to the "high" speed.

Maybe Acura has Bridgestone making the wiper blades too.
I haven't had that problem with mine; is this a warm weather thing perhaps? Sounds to me like the wiper blades aren't properly cured (vulcanized?), or that some kind of residue is being left on them.

My guess is that the wipers may have been going at such high speeds wiping that the friction caused the rubber to start peeling or melting. However, it was satisfactorily cleaned off and left no visible marks.
We'll see if it happens again.
