Wiper Blades vs. Refills

Pros and Cons to each.

Which do you use? (Blades or Refills)

Which brand? How long do they last?

I like the PIAA wipers. Been 18 months since I put em' on and they're still going strong. They even seemed to coat the window with a sort of rain-x like substance, as I ended up having to replace each blade with a different brand,(PIAA drivers side and Bosche passenger side) becuase of what they had in stock... Only the driver's side, does the water blow off the window as if it has rain-x.

Bosch Icons or the PIAA silicone ones. I prefer the icons becuase they are available at autosone easily and also are low profile compared to the PIAA's

I went through this last week with the ice storm we got in NY. The local autopart store did not have refills in 26" length.

I replaced the passenger side with Anco 19" refill. My dad was going to be near an Acura dealer so I had him pick up the OEM refill for the driver side.

I threw out the metal spine thing on the passenger side. I figured it came with the refills but, is a seperate part. So when it comes time to replace the passenger side again I will have to get the metal spines from Acura if I go OEM.

I just do not like the look and fit of whole blade replacements. They never seem to fit the windshield right and I don't need wings and spoilers on my windshield wipers. Looks riced to me.

I always used Bosch Micro Edge on my old cars...I highly recommend the brand. I would assume their latest wipers are just as good or better...definitely will be what I'll be looking for when the time comes.

I'm too cheap to replace the blades (and like the look of the stock blades), so I just get the OEM refills/inserts from Acura/Honda- $11 or so total. The originals lasted well over a year; I'm on my first set of refills.
The blades have never seen snow, and not much rain, since I'm in SoCal.

I was a Bosch Micro Edge user for 2 decades, now switched to the massivley improved ICON series.

When a company blows away its own best seller- you know its something really good

Anyone stuck on cheap OE wipers or refills needs these blades.

Just go to the parts store and see why or www.boschusa.com for details

PIAA Super SIlicone Hands Down, I've tried all the blades mentioned here so I can say without any debate that these are the winner.

And before you swear on your brand make sure you try these first, its almost a challenge that you're bound to love these blades. After using it for a couple of hours, when there is a light drizzle I dont even turn my wipers on anymore because of the silicone that it coats the windshield with, it just washes right off at normal driving speeds. Its exactly like RAIN-X except you do not have to apply it at all, its automatically applied with every wipe.

As far as the blade or refill question, obviously the manaufacture wants all of us to buy the blade, and that's how I usually do it cuz I feel like its a better fit and cleaner install. I can never insert those blades in porperly, or maybe its just psychological who knows.

26 / 19

Simple to install, you have to tug on the side where the clip is and it comes out then slide in the insert.

I live in MN and i think the wipers dont do the best job... it might be that my spray from the fluid is not aligned correctly but there always is an uncleaned area on my windshield.

OE inserts from the dealer. Simple for me to install, cheap and they work well for me. Same for my wife's Honda van. If/when they stop performing well enough I'll look for something else.

I get about 6 to 9 mos out of them on my TL and less on my wife's van since the windshield is more pitted and cuts them.

I don't derive a whole lot of personal pleasure over the brand of wiper blades I use so I don't sweat them as long as they work.

Try a paper clip or stick pin in the washer sprayer holes

You may be able to adjust the angle of the thing inside

Got mine from Advance Auto Parts. I don't think they are in CA though. You probably can find them at most auto parts stores that carry other Bosch products. The Bosch Icon may not always be available in the store but most stores can have one brought from their warehouse within 24 hours.

The wipers are very good but I must say that they look a little wierd. The mount points seem to bulge out a little too much.

PIAA silicones refills from pepboys 26" / 19" 15.07 shipped~. I still am not completely satisfied because it does snow here a ton and freezing rain.. it isn't the best performer in harsh winter conditions, But in rainy situations it does well.

Well since i can't edit :P I guess i'll post another one

I went to pepboys-> brand catalog -> all brands, PIAA - find the part number 94065 & 94048, which should total 15.07 before taxes and no shipping / handling costs.
