Question Winter TL??

Are there any cheap 17 or even 16 inch wheels that can clear
the Brembos on the 04 TL???
It would be great if there were some avaliable for winter duty on
winter tires.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Check tirerack.com

Probably nothing dirt cheap though.

I suggest going to the dealer and buying original rims. The aftermarket chepos will remind you every morning how bad they look. Mount some blizzak LM22 and you're done. It will cost a pretty penny but the results are outstanding and should last some years.

I notice you're from Canada. East? West?
I'm in Calgary and went with the Dynamic Package therefor currently have the performance summer tires on ( Bridgestone RE030's I believe.....not the problem Bridgestones). A couple of weeks after purchase I receive a call from Acura surveying my satisfaction level with the whole purchase experience. My only complaint was that my dealer didn't tell me about the rim and tire winter package available from Acura. Not sure that its much of a deal but they should have at least told me about it given our winters.

Hey I'm from Calgary too!!
I currently don't have the TL yet but I am seriously considering
one. How do you find your Dynamic so far? What dealer did
you purchase from if you don't mind telling.

Thanks!

It kinda sucks in Canada where they only have either the "base" TL, the 5AT NAV or the 6MT (no Nav). The performance tires are optional in the U.S. unlike the Canadian version where it has to come with the car. So much for being "dynamic" in winter. U.S versions also offer a 6MT with Nav. The color combinations are limited here too.

Oh, well I guess it's always been like that.

I agree, the TL's rims look fantastic, anything else will downgrade the look. I have a spare set with blizzak LM22. I have been very satisfied. The LM 22s are actually better than the turanzas as far as wet and dry adhesion are concerned. Hhowever, they offer slighty less sharp handling . The "true" blizzaks the ws 50 is not appropriate for the TL since they are only rated to 99mph thus their handling characteristics are pretty poor for a "sports sedan". WS 50, minivan yes, TL no.

I had the Nokian Haq2 on my VW last winter and loved them so much I will never buy another winter tire. The popular HaqQ has been replaced by the RSI, which Nokian is claiming is the best winter tire available, and based on my experience I can't argue with that.

I have Dunlop DS1's for the winter on my 6MT. They were great.

I just get them mounted on my stock rims. I used to have steelies for the winter on my old car but just like someone said earlier, you wake up in the morning only to see how ugly they are.

I bought a 'wimter' package from my dealer when I bought my TL. I shopped around for rims and rubber, but couldn't beat the dealer price.

Identical rims and Blizzak rubber.
