HELP! How to wire power from engine bay through firewall??

I want to wire a 4 guage wire from the battery terminal through the firewall into the car. I spent couple hours looking for the grommets and I found two. One that was very hard to reach and the other seemed to lead no where. My last resort would be to drill through the firewall... I really don't want to though....

PLEASE if anyone has any instructions on how this can be done or just some diagrams or a service manual please help!! THANK YOU!

thanks cTLgo. I'll check out the hood release gromment.

The one I tried was very close to the hood release, it was underneath the dash as well. But to remove the gromment from inside the hood was very difficult.

and no its not for a 5000 watt amplifier... more like a .. washing machine?

Hopefully when I figure this out.. I"ll post pictures of my mystery appliance...

But as of now... do you think I could also wire through the inside of the fender?

THANKS

you certainly could, I wouldn't be too surprised if the hood release cable went through the firewall, into the fenderwell and then to the front of the car... most cars are like that, I dont see why the TL would be different

I'll check it out after I get an hydraulic jack..

I'm going to remove the driver side wheel and remove the splash guards and check out the inside of the fender.

I'll post with pics later just incase anyone wants to do this in the future...

The grommet hole to use on a 2004 ACURA TL

Looking in the engine bay from the front. It it in the middle of the back firewall, a couple of inchs down from the top. Pull out the gromment, and use a stick or a screwdriver to gently push the sound insulaton out on the inside. The gromment seems too far up to be able to get to it on the inside, but see below.

From the inside, it is ABOVE RIGHT of the gas pedal mount. It's hard to see, but you can feel up there and feel a cutout. If you push it out from the firewall side, you will be able to find it with no trouble.

Same gromment setup on my 1991 ACCORD and 2002 Odessy.

There is more info on this on the audio sub pages here.
