Winshield wiper and washer

I did a quick search but didn't find any relevant threads, so here goes.

I have a '06 TL that's about 2 months old. I noticed recently that when I use the lever to squirt washer fluid onto the windshield, the wipers don't automatically run.

I have to manually enable the wipers. EVERY car I've ever seen runs the wipers when the washer fluid is splashed on the windshield.

Is there some setting that the intermittent dial should be in for this to work?

Very confused..

Regards

Pull the lever all the way back towards you. It is set so a partial pull will spray the windshield with water without turning on the wipers, which is good when they are very dirty so you don't scratch the windshield, and you can do this as long as you need to get enough water on the windshield, and then pull back further and it will give a couple of cycles.

This has nothing to do with the intermittent function.

If it still doesn't cycle when you pull it back until it stops, then there is something wrong and it's time to see the dealer.

Acura Genuine OEM wiper blades, but a lot of people are going to follow this with their personal aftermarket preferences.

Ron, this is a really good tip. I absolutely agree. Honda makes the rubber inserts available at a very competitive price. I have been changing our 01 Odyssey blades this way and still have the OEM carriers (or whatever you call the metal retainer that's not the arm). The life of the carriers varies with use but ours are still good.

The first time you change the rubber inserts may be tricky for some but once you do it you will be a pro at it forever. There are plenty of aftermarket full assemblies out there but if you are satisfied with the OEM then there is no need to replace the entire blade assy. Just ask the parts guy for the inserts. I picked up a set for mt TL at Acura during my last oil change. They are sitting in the garage for when I need them.

It all started back in 01 when the Honda parts guys said "anything else?" I said "yeah but I'll get them at the parts store, I don't want to know what you get for blades". His response was, "Yes, you do want to know..." I've been getting them ever since.

Slight correction, and some more data, on the rubber blades.

Mine seem to last a long time. I got a free set because I complained that they were squeaking and demonstrated it one day when it was raining, but when I got home I gave the windshield a better cleaning than I ever did before and the squeak went away, so I still have the spare set unused, waiting for a rainy day.

This is where I got the prices from, but your dealer should be close, and the shipping would offset the small difference between retail and wholesale.

It happens to everyone. The nozzles are adjusted so the spray hits the windshield when you are driving at highway speeds. If you adjust the nozzles so the water hits the windshield when you are not moving, then you will hardly get any water on the glass when you are driving.

Actually, there was nothing wrong with the URL except I forgot to paste it in. Works now.

On the topic of Wiper Blades, are aftermarket blades (BOSCH ICON, PIAA etc) better that the Acura OEM Blades. What are the advantages of going with either other than the fact that the aftermarket wiper blades are more expensive?
