To wing or not to wing...

Okay, so I ordered a wing to go on my TL, except when the dealer got my car and got the wing, they didn't want to install the wing because it had some paint chips taken out during shipment. They called and asked if I wanted to install it or not and I told them no, order a new one.

I took delivery of my car without the wing... and now I'm questioning whether or not I want the wing.

What do you guys/gals think?

hmm... They have an "I owe you" with me, so either way I'm getting it. I guess I could sell it or something?

Dunno... maybe i'll just get it installed....

I went through the same thought process. Lip spoiler or wing. I chose the lip spoiler and I am glad I did. The wing is just too much for this car.

Just my 2 cents!!

This is simply a matter of personal taste. I know some people in here think it's over done.....but I have one on my RRP and I like it. Then again...this is my "mid-life-crisis" car, so maybe I'm trying to recapture something! here's a pic:

Personally, I like the look of the wing spoiler, I don't think it's too much for the car. I ordered my car with one, still waiting on it, it's been over a month, hopefully it will only be another couple of weeks. I say, get it, it looks good.

I like the decklid the best...subtle enough that it isn't obtrusive or obnoxious, but when you see a TL without one, it looks kind of naked (IMO)

I agree with goldglv.

I usually don't like the wing spoiler, but this car looks great with it!
I feel like the TL a very aggressive looking edgy car and the wing spoiler
enhances this.

Check out galeforce's pictures from the weekend.

Both are great ...

It's definately a personal taste. I test drove a TL with the wing spoiler and loved it, but thought it was a little too racey for me, so I went with the deck lid.

I'll dissent...

Himmm... since nobod's said so yet, I'll have to say no wing. The lines of the TL are so nice and smooth that the wing seems almost... forced. Lip, maybe (and I thought hard about it as the one on display had the lip.) It's a lot more integrated into the TL's body line so if you really have to have a spoiler, the lip might be it.

Wing is just too much. Just boils down to personal choice, really. No right or wrong answer here.

Gotta agree with Maecrispy....TL has nice lines, wing spoiler kind of throws it out of balance

I would have to go with wing spoiler. I have the full body kit as well, so the combination makes it look even greater!

When we get our TL, we are going with the deck lid. Adds more character to the rear of the TL. The wing is just too much for us. The wing looks good on some cars, but we like the deck lid on the TL much better. As many have stated, it's personal preference with the TL.

I think it depends on color. I think the wing looks ok on the Anth and Black, but not so great on the SSM or WDP. The deck lid looks good on all though. Just a matter of preference but I got the deck lid on my SSM.

Like color, the wing is a matter of personal choice. Although I think the car looks nice with it from the outside, I felt that it diminshed the rear view enough for me to pass when I sat in one. And the rear headrests already do a good job of that.

It definitely looks better on some colors than others. Saw the green with it on at the NY auto show. That's one of the colors it does not go with.

Deck lid for sure. The wing looks like it's from a different car IMO.

I am not a big fan of wings, I went for the lip spoiler, BUT the wings I have seen on the darker colored TL look nice, something about them on the lighter car doesn't look as nice.

Galeforce

I said it once and I say it again, you car looks DAMN good. :worship:

Where the heck is jjay? SSM with the wing look sooooo good that... :hitit:

Okay, maybe I went a bit overboard but I think you get the idea . I don't know if it is art, but I like it.

Back to the orginal question. If you have already paid for it, than it is a mute point. If you don't really want it and they will give you credit for it even though they already ordered it, then take the money and put it into something else. To be honest, the best part of the TL is driving it. From the driver's seat, you can't appreciate the wing anyway so it really doesn't matter. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the kind words

Just order what you like. Even if you are behind the wheel 90% of the time you'll smile if you just look at your car and everything is how YOU want it.

Boltjames: (Pushes nav button on steering wheel) "Display menu"

Navi: "Main menu"

Boltjames: "Find Japanese restaurant"

Navi: "Now finding Japanese restaurant"

Boltjames: "Adjust rear wing"

Navi: "Now I understand why you want me to find a Japanese restaurant. Would you like to shop for some neon license plate frames first?"

Haha good one.. I'd personally go w/ the deck lid over the wing.

Warning! This is simply my opinion...

Order of preference:

1. Nothing
2. Decklid
21/2. Lip Spoiler
3. Wing

I always have a good laugh when I see a front wheel drive car with a wing angled in a neutral position (Even worse are the front wheel drive tuner cars with huge "Supra-esque" wings angled to increase down force/traction to the rear wheels. Plant the rear wheels to the road, lift the nose at high speed, slap on some stickers, and that Civic should fly!).

Spend the money on the lip spoiler...it looks good and it's functional...It's win-win!

Second piece of advice...it's your car, put whatever you like on it. You paid for it, enjoy it!

Wing is the way to go the car looks much sportier especially in anthracite and tinted windows..the lip spoiler i feel is very expensive for what you are getting and is not very noticeable y bother the 400 for it

I'm not a big fan of the wing. I think the car looks great without it. Save your money and enjoy the car as it is.
