materials alone cost more then that. i went with 3M ceramic tint that's usually in the 250-300 dollar price range for a 4 door sedan. I was able to get it done for 115 bucks because a good friend of the family has been tinting windows for 30+ years.
I've also heard/read that insurance may/can decline collision claims because of it.
Of course each owner can do what they like, but at least be informed of the risks.
Yeah you will be fine, if anything mine has helped with glare from oncoming headlights and the sun, giving me better visibility. Cops havnt been a problem either.
check the other threads i've started lately. i have a CBP with the windshield tinted, 50% on the front, 35% on the sides/rear. it looks perfect, i strongly recommend it. you basically don't need sunglasses, people's headlights wont blind you at night, and from inside the car you can't even tell it's tinted as far as visibility. im very glad i had mine done.
what also should be considerd is your interior color. lighter interior is going to reflect more light to make your tint look lighter. check out this example on this link.

My car (grey lowerd) has 15% with 50% windshield and light grey interior. My buddys car (grey tl bbs rims) has the same tint set up but black interior.
his is clearly darker. and it explains why he get fix it tickets all the time. givin my set up if i could re do it id probly go to 40% if they had it...cuz 50% on my car isnt much of a differance
I'm with AWDream. I have an 07 ASM with 35% on the sides/rear windshield, and 50% on the front windshield. It's been a great set-up. Make sure to get a solid quality tint like Llumar, Johnsons, etc. None of the turning-purple-after-6-months crap.
I've got 20 all around and 50 on the windshield. I went 50 because it isnt all that noticeable by the po-po. For me it's the perfect tint because it's dark enough to notice a little, but not so dark that it effects vision at night.
If you are looking for heat/uv protection. Check to see if you have a v-kool dealer near you. you can get a 70% tint with the heat and uv protection of much darker tint. Only downfall i its a little expensive, but well worth it. I have my whole car at 5% and will be gettign my front done after i replace the glass with v kool 70
Well I went to a local reputable tint shop today figure out what my percentage my sides and rear window is and guess its 15%,Didn't think they where that dark . As far as the windshield he said it would be 150cash and they would only do 50% which is probably what I think I will go with but 150 bucks seems pretty damn steep to me so I guess I will keep checking around at different shops.
