Try looking in the Yellow Pages under "Auto Glass." Do you need to replace your windshield? If so, your insurance carrier might be able to refer you to someone.

I just tried to put the link in, but it won't take, so here is the parts price for the windshield from Sunnyside Acura.

73111-SEP-A00 GLASS, FR. WINDSHIELD (GREEN) (APTECH) 2005 Acura TL 446.84 357.47

The shipping will be expensive, and you still have to go to a glass shop to get it installed, unless you know how to do it yourself.

Ron, it looks like there are two prices listed for the windshield, or am I reading it wrong?

Depending on the glass installer they may use OEM. The other thing is that nowadays a lot of them will come to you instead of making you bring your car into their shop.

You have a deductible on your comprehensive coverage? Hmm, I've never heard of that.

I should have explained that. The higher one is list price, the lower one is your cost.

Also, check with your insurance company. Some states waive the deductible for windshields.

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds a lot better than a local Acura dealer quoted me for the glass.

In Florida windshields are replaced for free. I recently got a small crack fixed w/o replacing the windshield. The fix came with a life time warranty, if I ever decide I'm not satisfied the windshield gets replaced for free.
The company said they fix almost any windshield if the crack is smaller than a dollar bill.
Overall, I'm happy with the results and more happy that I don't have to get my front window tinted again. (small strip at top)

SURE!! windshields are replaced for FREE!!! What a deal, If iI need one, I'll drive to Florida! I have my care insurance in TN-- I have to pay my $100 Comprehensive deductible-- but I pay less than $700/year for FULL coverage. What do you pay in FL?

It really is NOT free-- everyone in the state who has comprehensive coverage (glass breakage) is PAYING dearly for all those FREE windshields.

Come on now, we all know nothing in life is really Free!!
My point is, there is $0 out-of-pocket expense to replace your windshield in FL.

My wife's '02 we had it replaced by "Safelite" - I think that was the name. Just had to tell them I wanted OEM and they brought that - otherwise they were going to put in a regualr one. No problems, replaced all the trim around window and it all looks nice.

Question

I believe the TL windshield has accoustic membrane sandwhiched into the glass, and I wonder if non OEM replacements would have the same? Might be smart to request OEM or be sure it meets OEM specs.

Actually the acoustic layer is on the inside side of the glass, the middle layer is your standard saftey membrane. Also, there is no such thing as a 3rd party windshield for the 04-05 Acura TL as of yet anyway. I am trying to get mine replaced as the crack (formerly known as "chip") has grown to a size that cannot be repaired ... all in the span of about 20 minutes as I park in a climate controlled garage at work and I drove in from the rain, so I guess the temperature difference pissed off my windshield. ***NIGHTMARE**

Safelite

I used Safelite. They were Ok...I had to go back to get them to fix small portions of the molding. You have to ask for OEM glass. They actually order it from a local Acura dealer/parts dept. After they fixed the molding...everything looked great.

good luck

I used to do this for a living. Please dont' use Safelite they are terrible and can lead to major problems. Example being: when they cut the old windshield out if they scratch the pinch weld that the windshield sits in, it can lead to rusting and leaking. Many of the windshield replacing companies use a rust inhibator, Safelite doesn't.
