Windows Fogging Question
Windows Fogging Question
Ok, I dunno what it is, but for some reason I feel like the windows in my TL fog up more than any other car I've ever owned. I turn on the defroster and it clears it right away, but when I put the heat on the floor, the windshield and side windows fog up again in a matter of minutes. Anyone else have this problem?
Can anyone recommend some type of treatment to apply to the glass to prevent fogging?

i notice it also. i have to switch from AUTO to defrost ... but i only notice it during certain time. like, if i have 4 people in the car.. i thought it was just some heavy breathing mofo's...

Check the 3G TL Garage sticky thread and also the Problems & Fixes sub-forum for leaks under the back seat. There have been such leaks reported and you will find further details there. I don't have the problem on my 2004, however.
your all just a bunch of heavy breathers I guess!! lol
I too have experienced this problem, but not just my TL. My 300m did the same and so did any car I seem to have owned in the last 10 years. I wonder if it has anything to do where the car sits at night and how much humidity is present in that area. I also have probs with electric windows never opening until the heat has been on for a while. Again not just the TL but all my other vehicles too.

Make sure you do not have the air set on recirculate. This will cause interior fogging quickly. I find that the manual mode with the floor setting keeps all of my windows clear.
Many people complain about this with many honda vehicles. My 92 accord was the same way. I don't know why hondas seem to fog more readily than other cars, but it may have to do with cosmolene or other polymer solvents evaporating from the carpet and plastic surfaces, and condensing out on the cold windows.
Part of the cure is to clean the windows regularly. You will find that Honda/Acuras quickly build up a film on the inside. Cleaning this off will help the fogging problem. As southern boy has mentioned, keeping the air on fresh rather than recirc will also help a great deal. Finally, when you go to defrost, new hondas will activate both the AC and Heat at the same time, which will rapidly dry out your windshield.

When my interior temp is above 80 (climate control setting) the windows fog up. Anything lower than that and the air conditioner seems to play a bigger role and eliminates the problem. Go figure..
