My understanding is that it only works if you "auto-up" the window. If yours isn't working, I'd take it into the dealer before someone loses an appendage.

But, if you're raising the window by holding the button at the first click (not "auto-up") then, no, it doesn't respond to objects in the way.

Don't blame ya. No matter how many times the various salespeople showed me that feature, when they would say, now you go ahead and try, I was always like, uh, no thanks, I'm satisfied with the demonstration.

i think it's pressure sensitive, not motion sensitive - it has to hit something to go back down (meaning it wont crush your arm).

You're right. Being more smart than brave, I used a rolled up newspaper (not rolled tightly so I wouldn't damage the window mechanism if it didn't work), and it will reverse instantly, without really compressing the newspaper, when its on auto up, but not at all when you hold the button.

I guess they figure if you are holding the button then you should be smart enough to let go when someone starts yelling and screaming at you.

Exclamation

How's about someone tries to grab you or get into your car? Will this feature just help them?

I know they may just break your windows, but sometimes we may have better chance to flee or drive away before their next actions if the window is sucessfully closing up...

That was brought up in another post, and it is a very good point. You just have to try and remember to hold the button until the window closes, which is pretty hard to do sometimes in a panic situation.

Are you moving around a lot? I see your location has changed several times and is now reading San Francisco, but your last reply in another thread says your car is in NYC. Are you dodging the bill collectors, draft board, etc. Just kidding because I like your postings, always on the mark.

Ron A,

For this window safety feature, I really have no idea how to go against this peach-free issue. It's good to prevent children getting hurts, but bad for passengers's security. Anyway, we have to get used to it.

I have to admire your memory/information very much, which are always closed to what the service manual has said or the reality would be... :

BTW, currently I'm travelling to San Francisco for the business/vacation and should return to where I'm living, NYC, very soon... sorry to confuse you...
