Window Tint.
acura's windshield blades seal tighter than other vehicles to keep out wind and limit road noise. This poses a problem for tints because if dirt gets in there, it will more likely scratch the tint. Moleskin is a felt lining covering these rubber blades. You can purchase some from a vendor on this site, or some have done it themselves by draping a large piece of felt over the entire blade
i emailed a tint shop asking if they would help me install the moleskin if i install the huper optik there.. they replied saying they haven't had any scratch issues for TLs using huper optik... wut do u guys think would i need it?
My TL can do this, too!

Anyone use DecorGraph LLC in Falls Church? They quoted me $135 for tints - any shade, and I believe they use 3M film. Haven't gotten tints installed, but I'm seriously looking at 35's all around.
I went to Driven Dynamics in Rockville, MD, professional & personable crew, would recommend: $199 (gave me a AcuraZine $20 discount)
3M Scotchtint Color Stable - non metallic (35%)
Under the gasket (quarter windows)

... The tints are done from the inside. What does the Windshield blades have to with anything?

My windows are all scratched up.

I can take it back at anytime to get new film, but it's a hassle.
He's talking about the inside blades.
Just got my TL tinted this week. The shop exclusively uses only Solargard and Llumar tint...both are reputable companies that make quality tint. Through the whole ordering process, I asked for 20% tint...and when I picked it up, it looked great. I was talking to the owner before I left and said that 20% is perfect tint, and he agrees with me and then says "by the way, just so you know, its actually 18% tint per the manufacturer...but most people just call it 20".
Every car I've owned (8), I have gotten the windows tinted. 6 of them were @ 20% all the way around and I consider it perfect. Dark enough so people can't see in with detail but you can still make out shapes and profiles, dark enough to block sun/UV to make it cool, and dark enough to look great but not too dark to compromoise visibility.
The other 2 cars...1 was 5% (Mustang Cobra) which IMO was too dark for driving at night, and the other was 35% which looked decent but not dark enough at all for my tastes.
BTW...been pulled over many many times in these vehciles the past 10+ years and have never gotten a tint ticket...not even in the Cobra (somehow). I guess Indiana cops are a little more lienent.

How bad is the scratching, and and how long did you have it tinted before this started to happen?
I got mine tinted a yr ago from LA tint for $120 all windows and they did great no fade or bubbles. 20% backs and 30% front sides.i want to tint winshield ive seen it in va but mostly they are diplomats. gosh.. but tint is fine as long as u dont do nothing stupid in front of cops you wont have a problem but if you do get pulled over go to court nd u remove ur tint they will let it go had problem like that on my old car had 5% back 20% front
35% is legal in georgia not 32
but it really doesnt mattter. I have 20 all around and 35 on the windsheild and Ive been fine with all the cops...its all about your state and area. I hear cops in VA are very strict while cops in my area dont care. Ive been pulled over and they didn't say anything about the tint (and I talked the cop out of a 20over ticket).

I have 32% on my sides which is legal in GA and on a sunny day you can see right through them. I would hope that the cops would only pull you over if you had windows with 20% or less. But I know VA cops are strict, especially with speeding...lol. But worst case, you would just have to redo the front two.
We both are right...sorta. 32% is the limit in GA, so 35% is legal too...lol.
But 32% is definitely the legal limit. I went around a few places to get mine done and that is what everyone said.
But if you take into account the factory glass tint, which I have heard is 7% (don't hold me on that), that would take that tint number down. So in that case, that would mean that 32% is darker and would not pass the cop gun. I think I'm over analyzing this...
Any how, I have 32% on the sides and it is pretty light and no one should have any problem with it unless you run into a cop who is having a bad day.
