window tint
i have already had my window tint replaced once because of scratches due to rolling the windows up and down. i asked the service mgr about it and he said he would do it for me this time, i stated- they come with a 2 yr warranty so we'll do it over and over- he said oh! is anyone else having problems with this issue? he said it is a problem with the new tl's? ive had probably 15 cars and never had this issue?
While the type of film used is a factor for scratching, it's mostly due to the design/material of the weather strip. I, for one, don't have scratches... but it's a common problem in the 3G TL and the TSX. The most common and effective solution is the "mole skin," which is a strip of a felt, really... you can have the dealership/tint shop install this or just do it yourself. I think there's a vendor on this site who sells them; run a search on this site and you'll see plenty of threads/posts on this topic.
i bought my 2005 TL with /navi on may/2005. i also have a problem with my tint windows, i took it to the dealer, they told me there is no fix for it. i am not handy, would you guys be more detail about what should i do. i have scraches all over my windows, Mine was done by MR. TINT in San Jose, California.
As stated above, you will need to place a felt strip on the inside of the window where it rolls down into the door. Just stick the strip the the rubber one that is already there.
The TL's user a rubber window strip that will scratch any tint that regularly comes in contact with it.

Thanks a lot for the info

Moleskin Schmoleskin!!!!!!!!! Use good film and you won't have that problem. We (TSXers) have had this issue as well. I use Madico on all the cars that I tint and have never ever once had a schmoleskin request. Thats because I use good expensive film. Most tint shops use cheaper film so that their profit margin is greater. They don't like to pay the premium for the good stuff. I have worked with 3M films, Lumar, and some other cheap films like sun gaurd and solar gaurd. Madico is by far the thickest film out of all of them.
Let me ask the question to the TLers.....
Does anyone that has used Madico on their TL have these scratch problems? I don't recall any TSXers with Madico having them.
If your window tint only has a 2 year warranty it is waaaaaaayyyyyyy toooooo cheap. Lifetime warranties (for as long as YOU own the vehicle) are pretty much industry standard these days.

I never heard of Madico until right now. The most expensive (overpriced) film I could locate here was Lumar. It was available at one shop and they wanted ~$500 with the moleskin. They didn't get it from this guy! I did some research and hunted down a place that does 3M and paid less than $300 for four doors w/moleskin and the rear window.
After about a month, I couldn't be happier. My drivers window goes up and down lots more than normal people becasue I take lots of pictures for my job. Usually 3M products are considered premium and never cheap IMHO. They guarantee the product aganist fading for lifetime as well. I was under the impression that the $100 jobs are the cheap ones and they use metallic films like SunGard and Solargard.

Tint-R-Us are the best guys to use if you live in the CA Bay area. They're install the moleskin for you without even bringing it up. Their pricing is good and fast service. I just got my TL done by them. No scratch from rolling windows up/down.
