This is a nice twist on the usual "what tint do you have" post, Jerky. I'll start--I have factory tint. It was free!

Me, and some others require analysis before doing tint to our cars...we need some hard evidence before making a decision. sorry if this is a repeat, but im hoping this will give some quantitative information around tints. I've read SO many different opinions.

Sup my man Jerky heres what i got...

1. I would recommend getting mettalic, cause well thats what i have

2. I have got 3M and well all i can say is the heat resistance is pretty promising, its claimed to resist 70% of the heat. And it beats the Florida heat as compared to the other car i had with no tints. Definitely makes a difference. Also the 3M is guranteed not to go purple or fade away or give away, for well a really really long time.

3. Mine are 15% all around. Even though i kinda wanted to get the Limo tints ( yeah i know not legal) and also they did not have 5% by 3M (they had Llumar).

4. So far Navi has been fine, even i thought Metallic would trick the Navi or so on, maybe a myth ? Who knows.

5. In retrospect i over paid, im sure you will be able to find a better deal. I was $191.00 out the door, with a warranty ( im not sure how long it is for). But if anything goes wrong with the tint (peels off, etc). They'll get me a new one.

Well there u have it... good luck on ur choice.

Factory tint. Car is garaged at work and home. There's really no practical need for me to tint. I'm certainly not going to risk rattles by having someone take my doors apart to install moleskin for tint.

Factory tint for me too. Most of the deep tints I see are on older Caddies and little ricer cars with Folger can tailpipes. Not my "cup of tea", but some cars look nice with tints.

Just buy the mole skin. It only costs $25 and will save you from many hassles, time and $$ lost to scratched tint. Trust me, your tint will scratch. It is just a matter of time.

I have Metallic 30% Suntek tint all around. Navi is unaffected, integrated window antenna for the stereo is unaffected as well.. And my rear defrosters still function fine. I highly recommend this thint. I have SolarGuard metallic tints on my other cars, but I heard from many people including the owner of the shop, who recommended Suntek, because it's the thickest tint compared to 3M, SolarGaurd, and Llumar. He said it should be the most resistent to scratches, which is why he uses Suntek.

:killer: <----- jerky... always like to ask those polll
Q1:
I dont have moleskin and I have my tl for for 10 month now, i think I am just lucky

Question 2: What brand of tint do you have, and please evaluate

No idea, the tint shop offer 3 series only... standard, high performance and metalic
I choose high performance because metalic is bad for cell phone signal.

Question 3: How dark is your tint, please tell percentage

20% all around except the windshield

Question 4: Does it interfere with your navi?

No, because I dont have a factory stock navi. CarPC project is on the way.

Question 5: How much did you pay for tint
US$140

i have Solargard HP-38 (metallized) film. my car is not navi, but AM radio seems to not have been affected. if it has i can't tell (AM may be a tad noisier than AM without tint, but AM is noisy anyways).

i have moleskin to be safe, i did not want to have to go back.

Ok, if you look at the current numbers, users WITH moleskin are less likely ot have scratches...I think this confirms it for me, based upon quantitative analysis...
moleskin reduces changes of scratches on tint.

I've heard so many different things on the board, Im really glad to get these results, thank you everybody

Read sig line for the Ceramic tint brand name and %. No scrates yet!
Installed the moleskin myself and paid around $250 for the tint. I can't remember the exact amount but I posted it in a thread on this forum after the install.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and think its worth the extra bucks to get the ceramic tint if you live in a sunny state like FL. There were times before the install that the inside of my car was so hot I could of fried an egg in the butt print in my seat. No joke!

I guess I spoke too soon. I originally answered that I have the Ceramic Tint, without moleskin and no scratches. I just discovered a scratch on the drivers side window
