Wierd spots on my hood

I have an 05 NBP and on my hood there are these little circle stains. they look sorta like water spots but arent as noticeable and i cant seem to get rid of them. the only way you can really see it is if you look at the hood from an angle but it just really annoys me. anybody ever had this problem or know what to do about it?

I've had exactly the same problem with my 2002 TLS. I probably had 10 coats of Sovereign Pinnacle Carnuba wax applied on my car over the 6month period that I owned the car. It was absolutely beautifull looking with no swirl marks etc. I kept it garaged and NEVER drove the car in the rain. One summer, I was having tile installed in my kitchen, and the workers needed the garage for their tile saw. I parked the TLS outside during the day. One afternoon in July, there was a small rain shower that ended then the sun came out hot and strong. Since I had so much wax on the car, the raindrops formed small beads. When the sun came out, the beads acted like a lens and burned the paint on the hood, roof, and trunk. Fortunately the sides of the car were spared since the water didn't bead up on the side of the car. After the water beads dried, it looked like water spots to me and I didn't get too upset. I thought that the next wash would remove them. Well, was I ever wrong. I tried everything, including polish to remove the spots. Then, I got a jewelers loupe, looked at the spots with 10X magnification and only then could I see the damage. The "spots" which looked like water spots were actually burned into the paint. Thru the loupe, they looked like they were indented below the surface of the paint surrounding the spots. I took the car back to the dealership and the body shop supervisor told me the only way to remove the spots would be to wet sand the paint, removing most of the clear coat. They offered to do this for me under warranty. Since they were going to remove most of the clear coat, and the car was only 6months old, I declined the offer. To keep my happy, they asked me if there was anything else they could do to keep me happy. I asked for a Comptec Exhaust system which they purchased for me and installed.

I really wasn't happy after the spots happened, even with my new Comptech Exhaust. I kept the car for another year but never really enjoyed the car since I could see the spots. Most people never noticed, you could only see the spots under a bright light but I knew they were there and finally sold the car then purchased a '04TL with Anthracite paint this time around. That 2002 TLS was the 2nd Acura I've owned with black paint. The first was a Legend with better paint quality. All the cars were a real pain in the ass to keep looking good with the black paint so I decided Anthracite was the way to go. Since then, I haven't had any problems keeping the Anthracite looking good. It doesn't show swirl marks like black, looks good even when dusty or slightly dirty. Don't get me wrong, I love black and think it's the shinest looking color Acura offers. I obviously loved black since I had 2 black cars previously but it finally got to me and I went with Anthracite. I don't regret the decision, black is just too difficult to keep looking good. Good luck! If you're got any questions, PM me, and I'll give you my cellphone number.

I leave my car out all year ( no garage ) and after a Winter in New England I use my Porter Cable buffer and take off these stains that are caused by acid rain ...it works and it's a lot cheaper than having it detailed by the dealer.
BTW having mastered this technique I started detailing my friends cars from work, my dentist, neighbors and even thou is hard work, one car a weekend will bring in cash to pay for the equipment and some..

I agree with the overweight son who doesn't know his father. Use a good clay product, you'll be surprised at the outcome.

I wish my Acura dealer was that nice. Mine tried to void my warranty because I didn't have the dealer flush my tranny (Though after I challenged them on that, they conceded and reinstated my warranty )

I had the same problem, so I complained to Acura. All I expected them to do is detail my hood, which is where the spots were. But after they inspected the whole car they said that my entire car had to be detailed. So they clayed, and waxed it. At no cost.

The spots were still there but less noticeable. Now that I think about it, there still there. I forgot about them......

Yes, my dealer treats me great. I've purchased 4 cars from them in the past so that might have something to do with the care I receive. Good care comes with a price...and I've paid the premiums.
