if It were a sensor meant to warn the driver (audibly i guess) whenever there was an object in it's immediate or on-coming side, then it'd be going off 24/7. If it was a sensor that did something other than warn of possible side dangers, then the TL would be a death trap due to no side mirrors.

Really guys? Blind spot monitoring is sort of becoming commonplace in luxury cars... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_spot_monitor

Likely no one likes it b/c we've all seen our cars with sideview mirrors.
Think of it this way. Say you had seen cars like this since you started driving, and then someone added sideview mirrors. You would think it was the ugliest/stupidest thing ever.
I'm saying, only reason we find it ugly, is b/c we're not used to it.

Agree 100%
"Something different?? Let's hate on it for no good reason" is will always be the general consensus. There is absolutely nothing off or ugly-looking about them. And I'm not one of those people who believes that everything from carbon fiber windshield wipers to L.E.D. license plate bolts are the new hot shyt. Color-matched, those would be on point. For the best part of a year, I've been on the mythical trail of the 'heard of, but never seen" power-folding side mirrors supposedly sold only in the Chinese market. If the trail turns cold (it hasn't even gotten warm yet), i'd cop these.
Trust me, wait a year to two years tops after Mercedes or BMW comes out with them and watch everyone's tune change.

Your opinion doesn't count.

i believe there is a car out there which is the Audi R8 e-Tron Concept
there is a small lcd monitor inside the car so you can see the sides
i personally think these side mirror camera will be the future for cars though as we as american slowly switch to more techy stuff

As this would be nice to have, I can foresee problems with the system overall. If you had to replace them it could be a hassle, costly and/or complicated...nothing most of us could tackle most likely. My mirrors are acting up right now when I go into reverse, imagine if you had cameras and a small screen going haywire when driving.

Concept cars at auto shows have these 'camera mirrors' all the time. It's nothing new, some vehicles look good without mirrors and some just look weird, some even look weird WITH mirrors (some lambos with their extra long mirrors). It's an aesthetic thing. I happen to think our vehicles look better with the mirrors. Sortof like a plane with its wings vs without its wings.
