You are fabbing the new ones to work with the current configuration on the TL, right? Something that would NOT require switching tophats to get a decent hookup is preferrable to me.

Yes, It will be made to be used with the TL withOut having to change anything. I just figure it would be best to have it work for both.

It will a direct replacement for the TL, unbolt the one you have and bolt this one straight in. No moding!!

Look at any one of the uni body cars used for road and rally racing, they all have a system of reinforcement on the struts (front and rear) as well as under body on the front and rear. They will also include a roll cage the helps in making it stiffer. The roll cages are all designed to offer roll over support to keep the cab from crushing, but they also incorporate into it, cross members to give body roll support.

So I have to say, that they are quite important. Also, why would a manufacture include one on a car, if they didn't fell it was needed. That is money they could save??

Just a thought.

I am going to go ahead and get the boll rolling on this. Once I have the factory one, I will send it off to be used as a template. I have ordered the one for the 07 and will verify that it fits on the 04-06. It was a different part #, but I don't think there is any difference between the old one and the new one in terms of width and bolt pattern. This means this will work for all 04 up TL's including TL Type-S.

Please keep the support coming as I feel this is something TLers have been needing.
Plus you see how beefy our front stock strut bars are??? Unlike the rear strut bars, there really is no reason to upgrade the front strut bar other than for EDFC. I cant imagine they would design such a rigid strut bar without a pretty damn good reason/necessity.

Unlike some people, I'll trust that acura has analyzed all the structural integrity, performance, and safety aspects, and came up with that beefy stock design.

^^Note....they are that big partially because they are completely hollow cheap aluminum that weighs next to nothing! If you have ever had yours off....you know what I mean....you wouldnt believe how light they are.

THis is true. I was expecting it to be a bit heavier when I took it off the first time. None the less, it still privides good flex resistance.

Top hats are the top part of your strut. There is one on each side of the car in the front. There are 4 studs that come up through the strut tower, those are attached to the top hat. On an Accord there are 5 studs. All the bars made for the Accord use the 2 studs side by side rather then the 3 made studs. The factory TL bar uses the 3 main studs. The bar I am designing will use the three main studs the same way the factory bar does. Hope that helps.

But your also going to make it compatible with the Accords right? Cause I just coverted to accord top hats and I'll probably have to drill another hole into the bar if you just make it for the TL.

Yes, Since it is only the addition of one hole, I am going to go ahead and add it. This will make it so this one bar will work with the 03-07 Accords as well as the 04-07 TL's. Jason

They are the electric motors that mount on top of the Tein struts to allow for ride control adjustments from inside the car. Jason

its not question which one is better, but when you installing EDFC you can not use OEM bar unless you will cut pice of it, which most of us dont want to do it, thats why we all hope Black_05_TL_6SP will finalize this idea and those with EDFC will have option to use stock top hata with his custom bar

are people not reading the thread? I'll make it simple

OEM = NO EDFC

NEW STRUT BAR = EDFC

EDFC = http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=edfc&btnG=Search

If you search the forums for edfc you can see how its mounted in the TL

I was already working on it prior to the 40 people. I have a bar on the way from the dealer to use as a template. I am going to mock it up to also be used with the accord top hats. This way it will be a direct replacement for the TL as well as the Accords. I should have the bar tomorrow and will get everything taken care of tomorrow night. Once that is done, I have to ship it to the company that will be doing the work. It will more then likely be about a months time to get it done. I will keep everyone informed. Once I have product in hand, I will talk with the admins to find out what needs to be done.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. This will be a project that is finished as quick as possible. Since I am reliant upn another company to do the fabwork, I have to wait on them. But once it is ready, I will be sure to let everyone know.

I didn't get any update yesterday, as it was a Holiday. I emailed them already this morning, but they are in Cali, so they are just getting there. Once I find out any more information, I will post. Thank you again for the interest in this product.

I tend to think some of these people think these parts are being express mailed or UPS'd and that this company has nothing else to do but wait for your part. Patience people....it will come...trust me. He has already started working on it - but I am sure it will still be a little time now before something is ready for public release. Therefore...I wouldnt expect to have one in hand before a months time past or so. He still has a LOT of steps/hoops to jump through! I do have faith it will come though. Just saying...patience is a virtue!

Thank you Mike, this is very true. There is quite a bit of work still ahead. They have the bar in hand and will be working on the CAD development. Once that is done, it will go into production. Once they are done and I have them in hand, I will begin sale of these items. But this process will take some time. Feel free to post to see if I have any available updates.
