In my case, it is definately the window frame. If you push it up with your fingers, you can recreate the same annoying rattle. Try that.

I had that a few weeks ago. With the window closed, pushing out and slightly up on the top of the window re-created the sound. I brought it to my dealer and they applied some silicone spray to the rubber lining on top (the window "trim"?) -- no charge.
Now no more noise. I bought some silicone spray to treat any future similar problems. I suppose WD-40 would work in a pich, but it smells.

I do, but luckily some additional felts I inserted into the frame does help me get rid of noise.
At least I'm housebroken.
IF YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.
It's a faulty weld in the mirror assembly.

Someone mentioned in the forum this. I lowered the window maybe less than 1/16"-then the noise goes away!

Both my front windows rattle when they are lowered......... but do not when they are fully up......... does anyone else have this problem?
I just noticed something strange. Have you guys noticed that the whole driver side black plastic trim (including the piece right above the memory seat buttons) moves up when you raise the window to the highest position? I only hear rattle/creaking noise at that position. If you lower the window just 0.1", you will also see the black plastic trim relaxes and the rattle/creaking sound is gone. Strange.

Thanks for your comment. Could you give us some more info on what your dealer did to your car?Originally Posted by TL_CLT

Thanks but where exactly did they spray? Did they just point the can up and spray, or did they take anything apart and spray??Originally Posted by varanelli

I've done the silicon spray job. For me, this didn't work. As a last result, I put generous amount of thin foam pads, enough to protrude out of the plastic frame. I tucked in the excess foam under the trim.

Not 100% sure, but I think they just pointed up and sprayed.Originally Posted by MSF2

Really, like they know how to fix the glove-box rattle the rear deck rattle and all the other rattles. My entire drivers window frame rattles and has nothing to do with the mirror assembly, although it wouldn't surprise me if that starts to rattle too.Originally Posted by TL_CLT

On days above 80f the drivers doors cheap plastic liner makes more noise than the rear deck and the falling head liner which makes a nice "popping sound" as each part comes loose from whatever cheap velcro connector decides it no longer wants to hold it up.
The interior while nice looking is full of cut corners and Acura should be ashamed of themselves. For those of you who say I'm alone and as a whole or how the average owner is happy keep in mind that the guy who got the pile of crap in the litter doesn't give a good shit about percentages or how others are happy. No my car isn't a lemon, there are far too many having the same issues, every single one on the lot when I bought mine back on Jan had the same crap wrong with them.
I can't wait till it's a few years old so I can dump it for something, no anything else because even the car in my garage that was built 36 years ago doesn't rattle near as badly as this plastic rattle box does. Thank god I managed to talk a few people out of buying this thing, unfortunately 2 people I know bought one, now I have to hear the same whining about the rattles and tires and the "why didn't you warn me about this car?", hey I can't get to everybody, had I known they were even looking, I would have, my bad.
Edit.... Yes I take the car back and beg for it to be fixed, yes the dealer tries, when the parts they replace are just as bad as what was installed from the factory, what can you expect? Buy something else is all you can do.
At least I'm housebroken.

It's a faulty weld between the mirror assembly and the door, or some such thing. Fixed it right up. If your dealer can't, tell them they can call Hendrick Acura in Charlotte, NC and ask them what they did.Originally Posted by Novice

Symptoms:
Only happens when window all the way up. Slight crack and noise goes away.
Replicable if you tap lightly on the area towards the rear of the car from the fold-out panel on the door.
CLEARLY coming from mirror area.
Please don't WD-40 the shit out of your car trying to fix this. It PAINS me. Seriously.

Norse, I feel your pain. I post all the time about how much I love the car. My friends have BMW's and I am tired of making excuses. I made a bad decision on this car. I love hit when it is running nice but thats only a couple of days a week if that. I have rattles, my sport shift has gone out 3x, and the paint sux for a couple. I am sick of it. I work hard to have a "lux car". I have always wanted an Acura and now can afford one...WHY! My maxima that I traded "up" for was far better. This will be my last Acura. I paid to much for this poor excuse for a high end car. I have 2 years of bad leather and rattles left until I can go German. I am just glad it looks good and you cant tell the defects until you drive it.
At least I'm housebroken.
I think if you'd bought the Bimmer, you'd be over on the BMW board complaining about it, too. Take it to the dealer and tell them about the rattles and make them fix it. It is, after all, under warranty.

These are two separate rattle issues. The one I am describing is not coming from the mirror area and is not fixed with very slight adjustment in cracking the window. Mine was purely a matter of underlubrcation, and one application of silicone spray (not WD-40) fixed it for good.
I have had the problem that you are describing on my Toyota Highlander.

Ever since I did this, I have not heard any creaking/rattle noise from the driver's side. This works!! The key is to have enough foam in width-typical weather strips (about a half inch in width) won't work (at least for me).
The only problem I have now is that now I hear the same thing in the passenger side-I will take care of this later.

So stuffing more foam in the HARD TRIM by the window works, but the silicone spray does not? I have foam strips in the window trim but there are still exposed areas of plastic. However, the foam strips are thick enough that I don't think they're touching the car frame anymore. If you put so much foam on the hard trim, how does it fit under the weather seals?Originally Posted by Novice

Lore: I think the silicon spray does not work because it can never soften the black plastic hard trim. Try to use relatively a thin layer of foam. That's the key. If you work all around the hard plastic trim, it will eventually fit.
