Exclamation White haze on the paint.

I have a problem with my paint. After the car wash I get white haze forming around the front bumper. Only way to make it go away is to wax after each car wash. Anyone with same problem?

Is it soap film? What do you use to wash your car?

Are you washing your car in the sun? Is your hood still warm from driving when you wash it? Try washing it in the shade after the engine has cooled down a bit. Never wash a car in direct sunlight....you get haze, streaks, spotting, etc. ....especially on dark colored cars.

Sounds like minerals in your water. Try another source of water next time you wash. I lived in Florida for several years, and the water there had something in it that caused major spotting every time I washed my car. I didn't have any type of conditioner on my water system. After I moved, the problem went away. Right now, I'm using conditioned soft water to wash my car, and it leaves very little residue providing I chamois the finish before it drys. Hope it's not something wrong with your paint. Try a car wash.....the type where you do it yourself, use a bucket, then see if the problem goes away. They usually use water softener in most car washes. If it goes away....you've got water problems.

If the haze always occurs around the front bumper, then that is a suspect area for a defect. It doesn't sound like your washing process is a problem based on that. Maybe the clear coat is defective or isn't there?

Following on what JetJock said, if it is hard water, you can buy a water softener that connects between the faucet and the hose. Cheaper than buying one for the whole house, that's for sure.

Would the Mr. Clean nozzle spray product work? I remember it has a filter for essentially filtering out hard water.

My in-law's Lexus does that - bumper had been repainted as well. They have never been happy with the paint job, so maybe you got a bad one too.

Mio - 3:30 am!? I hope you are not on East Coast, get some sleep man!
