Whistling noise from engine

I have the 5AT. Under normal acceleration at around 2K-3K rpm, I hear a whistling noise, that sounds similar to a loose belt or something, but not as pronounced. Not sure, but its been doing this for at least a month or so. Doesnt seem to happen under hard acceleration.

Took the car to Baranco Acura in Atlanta, and they just called. They had 3 different techs ride in the car and they WERE able to hear it (Thank goodness for that), but they couldn't confirm what is causing it. They agreed amongst themselves that it was, as they put it, an "octane whistle". First of all Ive never heard of an octate whistle, a ping maybe, but not a whistle. Second of all, I fill up with 93 every tank (I can read the manual, y'know). So they said that since they feel the engine hasnt fully broken it yet (almost 9000 miles!?) for me to bring it back at 15K if the sound persists.

On my own accord, I will try another gas stations 93 octane, since I usually use one particular gas station. Maybe that will help?

Do anyone of you experience this? Don't know if ppl can hear it outside the car, but man it makes my car sound like a hooptie.

Thanks

rets: Thanks for the link, but some of the guys in that thread actually like the sound, this sound is not very cool sounding, so it's probably not the same one.

Nodoze: Thanks! Apreciate the comments..

i have the exact same issue with mine. it whistles around 2000k - 2500k rpms. Had the car at bloomington acura , after 100 miles 3-4 techs and service manger driving my car, they told me the same crap: we can hear it but don't know where it's coming from, could be a tranny issue, pully, belt, engine, etc. after 2 days at the dealer they couldn't resolve the issue, they explained that if the whistling sound becomes louder maybe they would be able to isolate it.

I will now try another dealer as bloomington acura in Bloomington MN did not provide satisfactory service. I told them that for people to be in the car service business they did a poor job, after 2 days they still didn't know or have an idea of the origins of the noise.
