Where is the Driver Side Card Holder?
Where is the Driver Side Card Holder?
The sales brochure for the 2005 TL states under the “Comfort and Convenience” section that the car has a driver’s side card holder, which is where I would like to store my parking garage access card. I couldn’t find it in my new 6MT. Am I just missing it?
Good question, I just looked at my driver side and could not find anything...checked the manual and nothing there. It may be advertised in the brochure as I am looking at it right now...but they also use the words, "we reserve the right to change specifications without notice". Oh well...

I use the sunglass holder in the door and works well for me.
I think that the card holder exists only in the mind of the ad people that wrote the brochure. I had such a holder in my Saab and it was a small piece of clear plastic that would hold the card against the windshield in the lower left side of the windshield. It was very handy.
saabs have so many unique features. like rear seatback release latches in the trunk, butterfly cup holder, rear vents on the sides (b pillar), night panel (blacks out all but necessary buttons/gauges, cooled glove box, passive steering rear wheels, fully electronic key, awesome & unique keyfob, etc, etc... damn, should've gotten a saab. lol. well, props to all saab owners and enthusiasts.

My friend wanted me to buy a Saab but I was not interested in there cars too much. Nice cars though.

Correct. The side markers don't blink. I do wish the mirrors had blinkers on them though

PS. Saab 9-3 = Pontiac G6. Except the G6 has more power.
Whats really handy I think, is the fact that the map holders (pockets) on both doors pull out and make it really easy to look at what "really" is in there. That would work perfect for your garage pass I would think.
Has anyone noticed the "slots" at the front of the side map pockets? I believe they are for the the removeable coin-holder but am not sure. I was told by the dealer that the sunglass holder is that small compartment in the rear of the side map pockets. I agree that they way they fold out is fantastic.
Volvo's also have the "clip" against the front windshield on the drivers side to hold parking passes etc. Very, very useful. B-pillar rear vents as well similar to the Saab's. They also have courtesy lights in the bottom of the side mirrors so that when you approach your vehicle at night they flood the ground area around the car to make getting in and out very convienient. Loos cool. Great idea.

While on the subject of storage opportunities, one of the easiest mods on the TL is converting the OEM Optional Ashtray to an OEM Optional Coinholder. Here's the Ashtray:
Modification Instructions as follows:
It's a little complex, so if you're having difficulty, just ask someone who works at a body shop:
1. Slide the door over the cupholders to the full and open position.
2. Confirm that there is no optional factory TL ashtray installed.
3. Close the door.
4. Put the key in the ignition.
5. Start the car.
6. Wait for the navi to display the "ok" button (it's grey with the symbol "OK" on it).
7. Hit the "ok" button (see above for "ok" button detail).
8. Depress the 'voice' button on the steering wheel.
9. Speak the phrase "find nearest Acura dealer".
10. Listen to the navi's directions and drive to the nearest Acura dealer. Depress the accellerator and/or brake as necessary.
11. Once you arrive at the nearest Acura dealer, put the car in park.
12. Turn off the ignition.
13. Exit the vehicle and close the door.
14. Walk to the door of the Acura parts department and open it.
15. Close the door.
16. Ask the attractive blonde with the heaving cleavage for the parts manager.
17. Ask the unattractive bald guy that you want the optional factory ashtray for the TL.
18. When he looks confused, tell him "yes, I know it says Honda Insight on the side of the box, but I want it anyway."
19. Remove your credit card from your wallet, signature side up.
20. Allow the bald guy to hand the heaving blonde the Honda Insight ashtray box.
21. Pay the heaving blonde $20 plus tax, and say 'thank you'.
22. Ask the bald guy if you can borrow a pair of pliers.
23. Use the pliers to remove the piece of tin that's inside the optional factory TL ashtray. This piece of tin is a cigarrette holder; since you don't smoke, you don't need it in there.
24. Now that the tin is out, there is room for your coins/tokens.
25. You now have modded the optional factory TL ashtray into an optional factory TL coin/token holder.

Hi quick Questions bout your whls & tires. Do the nineteens ride real rough? Are the tires real loud, I'm stock but thinking of upgrading to 18 or 19" wls. I upgraded my 99 accord from 15" 205-55-15 to 18" w/ 225-40-18 and they are def louder and it does pull w/ the grooves on the road, Seattle roads are rough.

Yes, the slots hold the coin holder, but when you close the door, the coins pop out of the holder and into the map pocket - tried it for a week, then moved it back to the arm rest. Great idea, poor execution - in typical Acura fashion (think brakes and tranny...)
