Where to buy headlight reflectors?

Ebay/black market/craigslist all come up short, I am trying to buy smoked or OEM headlight reflectors.

Is $100 USD really the going rate for something like this?

You mean the ones inside the headlight? Or are you referring to sidemarkers...?

nope, they're inside the headlights that curve around where the turn signal flashes. OEM ones are orange. Some people pop the OEM ones out and put in clear or smoked aftermarket reflectors.

the only real places to get these are from Bruce - Acktl05/Endless, and Klearz.
those are the most reputable. in fact the guy from Klearz makes his to order, they are perfect fitment and require no modifying.

the other places are USR (uniquestyleracing.com) and Wisedetailz (sold also through Heeltoe)...but I wouldn't recommend either of those, USR require a great deal of modding to make fit in the headlight (trimming/sanding etc..), and I won't get into details on the Wisedetailz (shady work)...

but yeah, reach out to Bruce, or Klearz. I ordered mine from klearz and did a smoked diffuser. You can expect to pay $100 or more - but is a quality piece.

last option is to find someone selling type s diffusers - they are clear in the front, and amber near the ends, and you can simply tint or wrap the ends to eliminate the amber piece...

good luck sir...

Looks good! How did you get them smoked? Also, where did you buy the carbon fiber wrap? Would you use the CF again if you had to do it over again or would you use something else?

I've got my pass headlight out to replace the ballast and I wanna delete the amber in my S headlights while it's out. I'd like to buy the clears but I can't be w/o my car for 10 days.

I ordered them smoked from Klearz he sells a light smoked 5% and medium smoke which is the standard smoke like the ones I have he is based in Canada so it will take some time, i think in all it was just under 3 weeks from order placement to being at my house, but perfect fitment- 2004-2008 Acura TL Clear Headlight Markers

I bought Di-noc CF wrap from amazon - went on fairly easily, haven't had any issues and haven't gotten any fading from the wrap and it has almost been a year since doing the headlights, to answer your question, yes, i would add the wrap again, just makes it stand out more...

Good luck on your lights...you can always reach out to Bruce/Acktl05 about doing the trade ins - you tell him what you want, he ships you the modded set, and once you receive the modded set you send him your oem lights, that way there is no down time...

Another guy to check out - Arora Customs, they can assist too - great guys as well. Arora Customs

Happy Modding...

Thanks for the reply. Good info. I wish I had planned this project but I didn't. I took the day yesterday to pull my headlight to replace a bad ballast. While I had it out, I noticed a lot of dust and a couple of dead insects Inside the housing (found out the previous owner had removed the seals on the back). One thing led to another and I was tearing my headlights apart.

I ended up "smoking" the amber reflectors with some Testors Black Transparent spray paint. I used some of this stuff (red) on my bike's rear turn signals which covered up the Amber better than the black paint did. You can still see a hint of amber in the light but it's not as offensive as stock and it's still functional. I removed the reflectors on my 1st gen TL when I retrofitted it with E55 HID projectors (that was a 2 week project) (shown in my avatar). However, In order to pass inspection each year, I'd have to glue on some orange reflectors to the outside of the assembly.

Anyway, I think it turned out pretty good for an impromptu day project.

**A couple points worth mentioning** DO NOT try to clean the reflectors or any of the chrome inside the housings! The chrome finish will start to rub off! There is a chrome painted horizontal bar that's in the middle of the diffuser. The finish rubs off extremely easy. Underneath the finish exposes a clear plastic tube. Doesn't look very attractive so I ended up painting that too.

Also, as someone else mentioned, using a soldering gun to melt the plastic tabs on the reflector worked very good. But you still need to be careful as it's more delicate than the feelings of today's "Generstion Y".

Yes sir, and thank you! Got them when they 1st came out. Had to send back one bulb & control unit after about 1 year of use. Their return process was simple. Gotta love the lifetime guarantee.
