When using the heater...
Hey guys, I just had a quick question about using the heater on your Acura TLs.
Do you guys just hit the auto button/increase fan button and set your temperatures to heat your car. As in, do you leave the a/c on or do you turn it off when you want to heat.
I always hit the a/c button to turn it off when I was heating but I noticed that this really caused bad smells. So, I'm just wondering whether all of you leave the a/c on when heating or whether you turn it off.

I turn off the a/c when i use the heater most of the time because it is acutally hot with the a/c off. On full AUTO mode, meaning the a/c is still on, the air would only be a little bit warm even at 78 degrees. The problem with having the a/c off is that the windows begin to fog up.
The A/C isn't just for cooling. It dehumidifies. If I recall correctly I remember reading in the manual for my old '01 TL where it stated that the compressor will cycle off/on until the temp goes below freezing. My guess is that once the temp goes below freezing you actually want humidity back in the air (that's why we have humidifiers in our homes turned on during the winter).
I would imagine the current gen TL is the same. I would just leave it at FULL AUTO.

I hit "auto," set temp and turn the A/C off. See https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149913 .

Is it me or do the TL's (or at least the 07s) have a sun sensor? When Im driving and am facing towards the sun it starts blowing out cooler air. Then when I turn and face a different directions, it goes back to the hot air.
All navi TLs since 2004 model have had a sun sensor to do exactly as you are saying. Great feature!
When I had my TL, I left it on 72 degrees, full auto, all the time. What I noticed was that it didn't blow as much air until the engine was heated up--a definite plus during the winter as no cold air blows on you. Another great feature that my RL shares!
